Texas is a new COVID19 hotspot in the U.S. IN the last two weeks they have had the greatest number of cases since the pandemic started. Add in the special unemployment benefits (CARES Act) for out of work people will dry up at the end of July. It does not matter what Trump does before November. There will be a lot of angry Texans almighty pissed off at Trump in August. He will lose that state.

More of the same - quick improvement in the US but slow degradation globally.

The 7 day average of daily deaths in the US has been falling quickly. Data points like just 41 deaths in NY State have brought the numbers down quickly. 5 days ago the 7 day average in the US was 1,050 and now it is 843.

Globally is different - every day the 7 day average rises. Again it hit a new cyclical high.

Still well below the mid April all time highs though.

Now: 4,362

April 18: 6,658

In the rankings the US passed Ireland in the wrong direction and is now 11th worst nation, per capita. We should soon pass the Netherlands and Sint Marten and move into 9th worst. But we probably won't pass any more nations.

No change in the rankings of the states.

Next few weeks should be interesting. We'll see if Memorial Day opening and BLM protests result in deaths. There are spikes in cases in FL and maybe AZ, but who knows how to think about those or if they will result in increased deaths.

I suspect Vegas is a major problem - they are doing everything wrong there. Indoor spaces, unhealthy people, near LA county, sending virus out around the nation. I'm not so worried about BLM marches because they are outside.

It is unknown if the problems with Mardi Gras stemmed from watching parades or just people milling about in close contact. We need to pray it's the former and not the latter.

But I suspect the Mardi Gras hotspot was probably from bars and restaurants more than milling around in the quarter.

I just want to re-emphasize what that means. It means that even if Trump convinces nearly all the undecideds to vote for him, it's not enough. He needs to take millions of votes away from Biden. That's very hard to do.

If the numbers continue to look bad for Tiny then he will take extreme measures to make sure certain people can't vote or to postpone/cancel the election altogether.

Every time we think there is a line he won't cross, Tiny crosses it.

The BLM marches are good training for what might be needed to secure a free and fair election. But it will need to be ten times larger.
