I think Trump was actually celebrating, for an instant, BLM. Celebrating a focus on equality and justice.
It's crazy but that's what I think Trump was referring to when he thought Floyd would be happy.
Trump is a sales guy and he knows how to play a room.
Look, I know it seems unimaginable that, even Trump, would say it was a "great day" for a guy who is dead and got murdered by cops because of good job #'s, so I sympathize with you trying to give him a large amount of benefit of the doubt. However.......he was absolutely was saying that.
His ENTIRE speech was about what a "great day" it was for America, because of the economic news. He tied this to everything else he talked about. Earlier in the speech he says-
" What we’re announcing today is a tremendous tribute to equality. We’re bringing our jobs back. When we had our tremendous numbers. And when we had just prior to the China plague that floated in, we had numbers, the best in history for African American, for Hispanic American, and for Asian American and for everybody."
And later he says:
"And by the way, what’s happened to our country, and what you now see that’s been happening, is the greatest thing that can happen for race relations, for the African-American community, for the Asian-Americans, for the Hispanic American community, for women, for everything."
His view is that his "greatest of ALLLL economies in WORLD HISTORY" will lift everyone so much, there will be "equality" for all and "great race relations." And this what he ties to George Floyd and his death , which resulted from INequality. But now, with America "back", on its way to the greatest ever economy anyone has ever seen......equality for all will occur. And this must make George Floyd happy. It's great day for Asians, a great day for women, a great days for blacks, a great day for hispanics, a great day for EVERYONE. Yes, even a great day for George Floyd.
That's absolutely was his theme and point.
