I hope everyone looks back and comes to the conclusion that they made the correct decision to get vaxxed or remain unvaxxed. I am supremely confident that I got it right when I chose unvaxxed.

Last month in an article in the journal Cell Host & Microbe, Fauci wrote that vaccines against respiratory viruses generally provide “decidedly suboptimal” protection against infection and rarely produce durable, protective immunity. The reason is that most of these viruses, such as influenza, which causes the flu, and SARS-CoV-2, have short incubation periods during which they infect the respiratory mucosa and rapidly replicate there without spreading systemically. Moreover, according to Fauci, the human immune system has evolved to tolerate respiratory viruses during short intervals of mucosal viral replication. This leads to illness and onward transmission without eliciting a systemic immune response.

These factors negate the effectiveness of vaccines, which typically rely on systemic responses to viral exposures. Respiratory viruses that replicate rapidly in the mucosa cause short-duration illnesses and transmission to others all before the immunologic defenses put in place by vaccines can be brought to bear. Vaccines against the influenza virus that causes the flu, for example, have averaged only 40 percent effectiveness against infection over the last 17 influenza seasons, ranging from 10 to 60 percent. And, as Fauci acknowledged, “the duration of vaccine-elicited immunity is measured only in months.”

There are a few successful vaccines against respiratory viruses with long incubation periods such as the ones that cause measles, mumps, and rubella. Unlike the short-incubation viruses, these viruses rapidly move from the mucosa to spread systemically so that they elicit strong immunologic responses and long-term immunity.

In addition, many respiratory viruses, including both SARS-CoV-2 and influenza, are more likely to mutate than the measles, mumps and rubella viruses, leading to more-rapid emergence of new variants. This makes production of vaccines with long-lasting protection difficult.

Fauci concluded that vaccines for most respiratory viruses such as influenza and SARS-CoV-2 “have common characteristics: they elicit incomplete and short-lived protection against evolving virus variants that escape population immunity.”

Immunity acquired from a Covid infection provides strong, lasting protection against the most severe outcomes of the illness, according to research published Thursday in The Lancet — protection, experts say, that’s on par with what’s provided through two doses of an mRNA vaccine.

Infection-acquired immunity cut the risk of hospitalization and death from a Covid reinfection by 88% for at least 10 months, the study found.

“This is really good news, in the sense that protection against severe disease and death after infection is really quite sustained at 10 months,” said the senior study author, Dr. Christopher Murray, the director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.

This study merely confirms what many of us already knew. It says nothing about the booster or effectiveness versus Omicron, but almost everyone has already been infected with Omicron, a fairly innocuous lineage, so the immunity should extend.

Also, almost 100% of the US population has spike antibodies derived from EITHER natural infection or vaccination. Some 90% have nucleocapsid antibodies, derived from infection only. Look at the chart.

Yes, everyone already knew the prior infection conferred good protection against severe disease. Especially infection from pre-Omicon lineages. Omicron and later infection is gives much less wide-ranging immunity (and where vaccination really shines).

There is no evidence in the meta-analysis that waning is slower from infection driven immunity - the fitted curves overlap significantly especially for boosted cohorts.

“As protective” that’s a laugh. NI is far MORE protective than vaccination, which per this study appear to be useless and hence all risk. I’d love to see simple vitamin D on these charts. 😂
