This message carries too much risk. Things could still go South.
But in a PR sense…who cares? Dems have let this imprint as ‘bad’ already. If it stays good it still imprints bad. Might as well take credit for the good when there is good news.
Rs are 80% better at this - they are unconstrained by truth and modesty so they are much better at framing things and claiming credit. Somehow they still sell Benghazi and trying to kill obamacare as good things, and their voters agree. Rs didn’t say ‘well maybe these investigations will show hillary did nothing wrong and maybe the people will realize we tried to take away their health insurance so we better cook it. Nah. They went full speed and wrote the history themselves
I agree that Democrats need to do better at trumpeting our accomplishments. But we don't need to stoop to R's level. Doing what is right is a lot more important than winning.
Benghazi no longer matters. Nobody cares.
Obamacare is very popular. It was a loser and now it's a winner. That's all because it was the right thing to do.
The same goes for the Afganistan situation. You can't jump the gun with messaging. If was start to crow about how "no Americans have been killed", what happens when Americans do indeed die?
Better to be patient and crow about the accomplishments once the mission is done. It really doesn't hurt to wait.
