does he not realize the entire irony in this? Say you want to use less of your phone but that you’ll document that journey?
Views must be slowing down since he’s shown he’s a pretty mediocre runner. Gotta enter the self help space I guess
No surprises why he hasn’t improved much, this guy is coached by the same guy as Floberg. Everyone coached my cowboy Jeff does barely any quality work and should probably look elsewhere if they want to improve, Floberg included
I think a documentary feels pretty redundant if you are already regularly releasing videos on youtube from your life, honestly. The exeption is if its a long form vlog covering a specific event or period where you were not actively vlogging, in my opinion. Honestly I would watch a non curated documentary showing how SJDs life really was at peak insanity. I think the key is that it has to show something else, and it cant be curated in the way the vlogs are.
I've heard FOD is directing and producing a day in the life of sirpoc, in light of all these docs. You follow him to the building site, then see him shuffle off for a run and heading down a British pub after.
The scary thing is, it'll be the most watchable of all this total sh*t from these guys lately. I find it very hard to relate to a lot of these tosspots.
Id watch lol id imagine there is nothing glamourous about it but really that's the reality of hobby jogging, whereas a lot of these guys we talk about here basically train full time and get incredibly average results given the advantages they have over hobby joggers
Right on cue, first episode of Olympic Trials or Die Tryin' has just dropped from the mongoloid himself.
I'm really looking forward to seeing him fail at this. This dude is such a meathead but I don't think there's any way that he genuinely has no idea how big the difference is between 2:29 and 2:15:xx. He's experienced enough at running at this point that he has to know. Right? It's just for content, surely.
Or maybe he really is that stupid. Perhaps he really is like Floberg before the plateau at 2:32, thinking the gains will just continue forever.
Dude, dont diss Floberg. He has not plateued at all. He was in 2:25 shape for Chicago but the GPS issues caused him to miss out. He has documented everything. His HR is so low on those easy tready runs. He has never been in such good shape, bud.
Boston, Chicago 24, McKirdy, all these marathons were sub 2:30 runs but the course, weather and shoe choice cost the big man. You dont want to believe he is in super shape because you seeing a man making core memories with him bros.
Anyone do Worcester Pitchcroft parkrun on Saturday? If so, you would have got to witness prominent YouTuber Donato going for a sub 20, sh*tting himself about halfway round, and suddenly pulling off to the side. Another runner stopped to ask him if he was okay and, upon both of them simultaneously noticing a turd roll out of Donato's trouser leg, Donato proceeded to do that distinctive Pennywise the Dancing Clown dance, kicking his legs from side to side and taking ownership of an awkward situation like a boss. Fair play.

I can't tell if this is real or a subtle way to get me to check out Donato's youtube channel
Has anyone checked out the Ollie Drieu channel? He spent a while trying to do a sub20 5k. I quite like this channel, it comes across as quite genuine and relatable for someone that is just starting out and working out how to do all of this stuff. It makes a nice change from the usual Youtubers being mostly self styled gurus.
Agreed, quite a charming young man and reminds me of my first forays into running, just working it out as you go along.

Went from struggling to break 20 minutes to nearly breaking 19 one month after going sub-20 for the first time. Interesting.

The winner of that same parkrun got DQ'd because he got his mate to act as lead out bike, while filming him, it's on YT. He missed the course record by a few seconds, which is a shame as I would have preferred to see him beat it and then not get the credit. The RD explicitly told them he couldn't have a lead out bike before the start.
Does anyone know what happened to Patrick Martin, he was a bit of a middle aged RTJ, he used to run 13-18 miles a day and did the London marathon in some impressive times. Strava has him doing London last year in 2.27 and then poof he's gone.

I remember him, went to check Strava there no posts since end of May 2025 but before that was on the bike as couldn’t run, said it was hip pain since London and hamstring tendonopathy in the comments. Hopefully he’s back running but just not on Strava maybe.

Very suspicious if you ask me. Wasn't the rumours of Culling doping, she hit some PRs and since stopped her times are way off they used to be. I guess that's what run "influencers" are willing to do for their 5 minutes of fame. I much prefer someone honest and hardworking like FOD and Sirpoc
Oldheads will remember The Notorious Matt Fox (of Sweat Elite and Japanese jail game) calling out Culling for using performance-enhancing thyroid medication around the time she was making her incredible progression.
Exactly lol. He makes less than 2k a month in ad revenue so it's not like he makes bank just by filming himself run. He stays afloat using his likeness to scam 60 people at $125 per month.
One core memory family trip to NYC and he's blown through half of the year's ad revenue.
oh definitely agree with you guys. i think he's pathetic for charging $100+ monthly for 'coaching'. he should honestly be ashamed he's doing that crap. literally scamming people but he'll justify it by saying he's giving them good advice and 'fostering a community'. apparently per the youtube video his monthly price might be at $150 for the coaching lol. i mean...ya pretty wild he's making ~$1800 per head and probably has a roster of ~50 people so that's a potential $90k all from the bs coaching services.
but i also don't think he's struggling for money by any means. the dude is definitely clearing $200k in total every year i bet. sure he has a family of 4 kids and a wife to support on that, but it's more than doable and comfortable in a chicago suburb. he's probably quite comfortable monetarily, by no means rich, but being able to make 'running' your job is a pretty sweet gig he's cooked up for himself to not have a typical/slave like 9-5 corporate job. but yeah, he's the worst for this 'coaching' stuff by preying on his followers and taking their money for stuff that by no means should be $150 a month. thats just laughable and he's a conning grifter for doing this. i know many in the local community who know who he is feel the same way. it's really just his mindless fans who suck him off and glaze every video who are willing to waste $1-2k/yr to be coached by the great eric floberg. pisses me off lol
he did also mention that he shoots some commercial running film projects that can make him like $5k-20k a piece so that's not nothing...but yea the bulk is his coaching scheme.
i think he also has non-running related 'e-courses' for wedding photography or videomaking that he's said in the past he makes like tens of thousands of dollars from annually in passive income. screw you bloberg you genius internet money scamming artistic douchebro!!!!
Oh God he's worse than Seth. Seth was misguided in some training aspects but he was actually good at times and earnest. Miss SJD a little bit. NOT being sarcastic.
Floberg just seems fake. I may be wrong, it is what it is, but just calling it like I see it.
Does his net income include his health insurance for the whole Floberg brood and pension savings?
These figures always sound great but he won't be getting paid holiday allowance, no pension, no health insurance, many other perks you get working for a company.
Also, what is he doing all day? He gets up at 6am to run "with the boys" or runs on the mill late at night. If he's a "full time" runner he can run when he wants surely? He was running of an afternoon for a period so he must have other stuff on which he has to do of a day. His wife "teaches" the kids doesn't she?
For two people, it's modest. However, people need to get over the idea that companies are caring, supportive places. Blowberge is not capable of earning anywhere near what he does working for a company. Why would earning perhaps a third of what he does now,in exchange for a token pension contribution and health insurance seem appealing.
People need to appreciate the majority of these YouTubers are not turning their back on high flying careers.
Except for EClor and Emily Abbate.
They already were wealthy BEFORE they were famous instafluencers. Family money is a thing, esp. on the East Coast and in the DC/NOVA military complex.
It's been inspiring to see his journey this year to get to a pretty decent level. I don't think there's many on this forum that can genuinely say they've got a sub 21 minute 5k - even if it was paced by Bester
FYI Aubrey and Nick have released another video on breaking 21. It's actually fascinating to heard their thoughts at various points of the attempt and the human psychology behind such an endeavour. Would recommend.
I was gonna clown on the video but actually watch him pick it up and push that final 100m was solid and it didn't suck...
In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, we sat down with Mike Ko to learn about his experience as a runner and creator and what it’s like to race with a selfie stick.
Apparently he was a runner in college, so he has some talent. Also did PV and hurdles in HS.
Good interview, actually:
MK: My dad has inspired me to run in a lot of unintentional ways. He didn't even invite me to run that first marathon with him, I just decided to join him. He was turning 60 that year and I was turning 30. I thought it would be fun to hit those milestone birthdays together. Then, in 2015, he came to visit me, coincidentally at the same time as the Chicago Marathon. He wanted to go watch the race. I wasn’t really interested in running a second marathon, but he was dragging me around to all different parts of the course. The 3:10 pace group ran by and he said, “Check out those guys. If you’re going to run another marathon, you have to at least do it this fast.” I said, “Dad, my marathon was 4:40.” But he said I could run a lot faster than that. Being around the spectators and all the energy made me think that maybe I did want to do another marathon. That reignited my fire, I found some shoes that really suited me and things finally clicked.
