Ds are absolutely horrible at this stuff, horrible. With the big tent approach they are way too scared to dig in on sensitive issues. Way too afraid to go against any mainstream narrative. Biden showed unbelievable commitment and resolve here in the face of psychotic Rs, opposing Ds, a blood thirsty media, and even upset allies... all because he knows it's the right thing to do.
