I see you cover both grounds. He is guilty if the wiretap was ordered, or a big lair if there was not wiretap. You have absolutely no grounds to call anyone an idiot.
The democrats were all up in arms when the FBI director "interfered with the elections". They have no qualms about letting a FISA judge interfere with the elections, because if it favors the Democrats, it must be the truth. This should get interesting.
Anyways, it was very clear to me that this would be the outcome of the Democrats trying to mess with Trump's cabinet. If congress would just do their jobs, none of this has to happen.

my best guess is that trump got to know a bunch of former soviet union people while scouring for loans 12 or so years ago. No american bank would touch him, so trump had to go around looking for shady loans to keep his biz afloat. He in fact hit pay dirt, and borrowed money and worked with some bad guys in the FSU countries. So he got into that orbit and is known by them. They think alike - dollars, dollars, dollars, break laws, whatever.
Putin likes to work with that kind of person since he also worships money and power and doesn't follow laws or rules. They weren't friends, but had common friends.
So that's the first thing - that group sees the world in the same way.
Then when trump became a politician he clearly appealed to Putin in many ways
-white nationalism
-violent, warlike anti-Islam
-trump would retract from europe
-trump would overlook russian aggression in cause of anti-muslim,
and finally, putin could see that trump would bring great instability to the USA. because trump is a criminal loose canon.

I think this is all practical and realistic.
just to put a period on it, I don't think Trump is a russian spy or anything like that - I think he broke laws finding money and hiding income from taxes, money laundering, etc.
that's how he's done business all his life, and I think it is finally catchng up to him.
my best guess is that the FBI will discover his people destroyed evidence (probably doing that as we speak) and many of them will go to jail for obstruction of justice type crimes.

No, actually. But, this is the reality.
It would be great if the domestic surveillance party ended, but there are too many people that don't understand the issue and SO much money dedicated to it that it would be hard to kill.
Again, the John Oliver summary highlights very well how people really don't understand the scale and scope of the current surveillance state. And then there are political forces inciting fear, like all this surveillance somehow protects them.

It would put the whole thing to rest. But he can't. Pooty has something on him. And we're only in month 2. some truth to this - trump is actually in a decent position, if were able to look more than one step ahead.
if he is tough on russia, if he does a few things for the environment, he could actually shut up many of his critics.
might happen on russia - it seems russia doesnt' quite know what it bought - trump says all the pro-russia things, then tillerson, mattis, etc. go and walk them back.
