This thread is completely out of hand... Thanks to ALL of you! I hope it gets terminated soon so you pussys can run instead of talk. (Unless you have a stress fracture of course)...
Even with Spidell and Moore did Lock Haven really deserve to be ranked 16th in the nation? and will they even place 3rd at the post season meets?
Could Slippery Rock and Edinboro bring more national bids to the region?
If they finish top 10, I believe they will
The original post back in July was to try to get an understanding of why the 07 Boro track team did not show the results that would make them be a contender for the regional championship during the upcoming cross season.
I would hope that Snow was around in the Boro during the past winter when the two AA's on the womens roster were also injured along with the majority the team. The odds aret there was was a very good chance Nemira would have gone sub 31:00 and continued a very impressive list of Boro athletes who have qualified for track nationals, including Chris Rauber who was an indoor national champion.
Other runners in the PSAC do not have an understanding of for example how someone like a Joe Janke was an all PSAC competitor in cross and then not making the same kind of impact during track. In my opion which someone will find wrong that goes back to the group mentality of cross not always being same for track. The basis for a good fall is based around long sustained distance runs which at least for the past couples of seasons has been rather non existent during the winter and spring.
If some Bozo wants to talk about some lame excuses the best would be to go back to 2003 cross nationals where the national runner of the year finished 91st overall.
I thank Chad for his support as he comes from my neck of the woods where the attitude is not those who like Rowe and Nemergut hate me as nobody as any clue who they are.
The best case scenario would be for Nemira Hahn Arthur Field and Lanzel all to get national provisional times they are capable of this spring and put the issue of Edinboro winters to a rest.
And yes I am an idiot to some or a true definiton of "rag" who never ran well to others . We are all different and that makes everyone of us an idiot to someone who holds a different view than their own. If you are going to call me one at least be up front about who you are.

Not a question of COULD but rather one of SHOULD...I'll be very surprised if they don't. However, the region likely won't deserve three bids next year. I hate how it works...I loved the days of 2 auto-bids per region and then a bunch of at-large bids. Hoovis

could there be 4 next year? how does that even work when they decided how many to give.
it's a strange thing that next year there shouldn't be 3 or 4 and this year there could be 3 or 4. I agree with Hoovis on that. But could you imagine how controversial a system would be if they went on a year by year case by case basis trying to give out the bids for regions.
either way 2 teams in top at NCAA's in the conference will = more bids for 2008.
Shizzy, just shut up and get off these boards and tend to your LEG.
They used to use this approach. Two automatic bids for each region and than a number of at-large bids that would be decided upon. In ways, it was controversial...but, the benefits FAR outweighed the negatives. For example, in a year such as this one...Lock Haven would have something to run for. Based upon their performance throughout the season and at Regionals, they could get an at-large bid. As it is right now, they have no chance of getting such a bid, despite being ranked in the top-20 in the country. Although quite different, at large bids, in essence, it has the same positive effect that having wildcards in MLB has today. The last week of the MLB season was incredibly exciting because a lot of teams that would've been eliminated from any playoff hope are still in contention. In fact, I believe that the last time that the Rock won PSAC's (1990?), the two automatic bids were Rock and Boro. Ship got an at-large bid, went to Nats, and ended up finishing 4th. Hoovis

The d1 set up with points and regional finishes is also exciting like the MLB last week was. DII should have a system in place it sucks when they hand at all the bids before season. The RMAC gets what 5 right now? if they have an off season there (not likely) they could send "lame-duck" teams to NCAA's. meanwhile if there is another conference having a strong season they get screwed and could only send two teams even if they have two or three other teams that could compete and at NCAA's.
that sucks.
but my question originally was how they decided these spots after the season, is it arbitrary? do they just look at the conferences and see who was strong or do they have a formula?
I think Dwight Schrute said you were an idiot.
If you cannot be amongst the top two teams in the region you don't deserve to be at Nationals.
The top 3 teams will be at Nationals, not much else matters.
Shizzzy for cripes sake will you just go ask you coach how this stuff works. You know, he does know what he is doing.
Why the f*** does it matter? He is trying to add something to this f***ing useless board. I came on here to see what the runner's from the PSAC are talking about and half of it is bitching at this kid.
Get over yourselves.
I like how 9 out of the 10 teams in the region are PSAC schools. Not sayin its necessary gona finnish that way but they should just rename east to psac region.
Just remember, what goes around comes around. There was a time when the PSAC was like the RMAC in terms of dominating at a National level. One could argue that instead of hosting a national meet, they should just invite ACU to the West Regional meet and call it a wrap. Hoovis

Given the current state of the PSAC, I concur. However, that hasn't alwasy been the case. Further, that same rule certainly doesn't apply for the Northcentral Region as they clearly have at least 3 teams that deserve to be there. Hoovis

H2,
I was not commenting on the PSAC, but since you mention it, the PSAC should have never had more than one team ever qualify, not at least as long as I have been observing.
The fewer teams you have on the line the more likely you are to have a better race and more accurately define the best team.
I doubt the top three team finishers ever came from the same region (and if they did I am sure one would have received one of the at large bids) there is not a reason to select more than two teams from each region.
The meet is designed to award the Title to the National Team Champions. Second Place and Third Place are interesting to know, beyond that the results are meaningless. And as far as naming All-Americans: who cares, it's not important. When at the meet you are there to run in a fashion that best helps the team, not to provide personal glory.
I have six AA Certificates and cannot tell you where they are located – most likely they are in some landfill – but, I glance at my Team Title Rings every morning before I head out the door.
The meet is a team meet, to name the best D2 team; all the rest is simply superfluous.
it's real shitty for all you guys on here to make fun of shizzy for being hurt and having a stress fracture, but if your going to make fun of him, make fun of him for being a jew with his money he can't even pay his debts, might as well give him a yamaka, curly hair, and a big nose
