Bowdin classic this Saturday.

This should give us a temperature on how good CBA really is. Suppose to rain tomorrow so I'm hoping the course is dry come race time. Bowdin is infamous for holding water and the mud gets incredibly thick to run through.

I don't see a world where Herriman loses this year, but I would want to see all 5 CBA guys under 16:05 with barret way up in front for them to have a chance.

Additionally, Ridgefield CT (3rd last year at nxr, not to be confused with Ridgewood NJ) only lost 1 senior and looks very strong. They historically don't go to Bowdin. Does anyone know when this team opens their season or are we just waiting until Manhattan?

Update: Valor Christian is still on the team list, but does not have any athletes entered that I saw. They have Desert Twillight on the schedule as well, so I'm assuming that where the team is headed.

Mountain View ID is still on the teams list, but I don't see any entries. There is no other meet in Idaho worth going too, so I'm assuming the entries for them will come in today.

Bozeman is no longer on the team list.

The Cali teams to watch are JSerra and Great Oak.

Predictions for top 8:

16:05 at Bowdoin is flying. 15:50 at NXR NE was 7th at NXN, 15:53 guy was 28. CBA would sign up up for 16:05 5th man all day.

The 15:50 Jimmy Wichusen, 7th, gave an interview after his nxn race. He basically said he wasn't trying at nxr northeast and was saving it for nxn (due to injury problems), which explains how he passed byron grevious on the big stage.

the course record average is 16:02 or so I believe so obviously it is a very challenging course.

I just rewatched the interview. It's just vague. The impression I got when I first saw it last year at nxn was that he was saving for nxn but when I rewatch he just said his main goal was to qualify idk it's hard to tell

He was referring to the fact that he DNFed at both the group meet and Meet of champions in NJ (for whatever reason) so he ran to qualify, not necessarily run as fast as possible. 15:50 in November at Bowdoin is very fast

Herriman UT is #1 unsurprisingly.

Austin Vandegrift got moved up to #4. A lot of people are starting to think that they are better than Southlake Carroll this year.
American Fork got moved down to 8th, 1 spot ahead of previously unranked Hamilton (this team definitely deserves some recognition now).
I’m not sure if AF should be moved down by that much. But the race between them and Lone Peak was somewhat close though.
Rocky Mountain ID is the #3 Northwest team here just like in Dyestat.
Mercer Island is #17 in the nation.

ZERO boys California teams are in the top 25. I know this year isn’t strong for CA boys but woah, I didn’t see that coming.
No Heartland boys teams either but this isn’t news.
I do see a NY team in the top 25: Ithaca.

I completely understand how INSANE a 5th man running 16:05 at bowdin is. I was proving the point that if they want to compete with Herriman, they would need be around there. Herriman late in the season is going to have 5 guys running mid-high 180's SR.

Last year at the bowdin classic, CBA went:

15:50
15:54
16:16
16:18
16:19

They came in 6th at nationals and Herriman is better this year. I know how insane it sounds, but i think CBA will need to put up the best performance in northeast XC history to be able to compete with them. I'm not talking about a top 10 or even top 5 finish.

Bowdin runs about 15-20 seconds slower than Glendoveer. Last year Herriman ran a 15:50 team average on Glendoveer and they are BETTER this year.
