When Rich Gonzalez talks about how the northern schools are matching up better to the southern schools, that has a lot to do with many sections in the north changing their divisions around to to line up to the So. Cal schools. Other sections have not. So you have schools in the north with populations of 1700-1800 students competing against schools with populations above 3,000 from the south. This is a CIF issue as they leave the divisions to each section to determine. If the CIF was more equibable, you would see far more Northern California teams in the top 10. This has been an ongoing issue for years. Some section leaders don't seem to care to make the State Meet more equitable. Never understood why.

The key conflict is that to make the State Meet more equitable, the Section meets become very imbalanced. A simple example is that when the Southern Section enrollment divisions are used, several other sections would have fewer than 10 schools in D1 and often the individual qualifiers would be much slower than in the other divisions. Section leaders (which are school ADs and principals) tend to prefer more equitable section meets.
Note that the California State Meet used to have divisions on strict state-wide enrollment numbers and people complained about it so much (for reasons like mentioned above) that they changed to allow sections to decide their own division criteria.

Last year there was a live steam but only the finish line was shown. It was on Flotrack. But this year I haven't found the stream for that on Flotrack or anywhere else.

You have to have a contract with CIF to broadcast the event. Unfortunately no one paid for those rights so there won’t be any live broadcast this year. Very unfortunate.

Yosemite moved up from 6th to second in the 2-mile. Crystal springs still in the lead

Fantastic run from Fresno Christian freshman Blake Bay! 15:48.7 for 16th. That puts him as #3 All Time for Central Section freshman. Nice to see Yosemite improve on their 3rd from last year, too!

I wonder if Yosemite can D5 win next year. They return 4 scorers but they will all be seniors. They will need a 5th though. They have no depth at all but they do have a junior who is a new runner and went 17:30 in the 3-mile.
