For the past week I have had trouble following your line of thought. Perhaps we are looking at a different set of data?
Johns Hopkins tracker does not have data for 5/18 but for 5/17 they have new cases in the US at 18937 and deaths for the day at 808. I don't see that as being worse. In fact, deaths at 808 is the best in a while.
As I said, they don't have today's results posted yet. But even yesterday you said things were worse... not following you.
Some things that could be the cause of discrepancies:
I'm using worldometers data, not Johns Hopkins
I've noticed that data sources work with different cutoffs. Meaning some end at midnight eastern, others cut off at midnight GMT, etc. Probably Worldometers has a different cutoff than JH.
Data are not exact...some sources will massage the data when they need to. For example, France data has been erratic - reporting 2 weeks of deaths on one day, having different ministries report different numbers, etc. Some orgs will try to figure out what happened...others won't.
I'm not looking at cases.
I'm looking at 7 day rolling averages of daily deaths, to smooth out the line. You may not be.
Just some ideas there.
Note that nowhere does Trump's note from his doctor say that the president is actually taking the drug. The doctor only says there would be a potential benefit to Trump.

My first guess is that he is not taking hydroxychloroquine, and is simply lying about it to troll the press and sell a product.
Another thought is that he is lying about his Covid 19 tests being negative for him. Maybe he had a positive test and is taking a small dose of it to combat the effects.
There is no way that he is healthy and Covid 19 negative and taking an experimental drug that has been shown to have potentially bad side affects. Not with the slew of doctors monitoring him all the time.
We need the prescribing doctor to make a statement on the record.
