That's a date on paper. I fully expect evac operations to continue well after as long as there are large numbers of identified Americans getting to the airport.

I don't trust FOX unless they present verifiable info, sorry. Was it even clear that the mother is actually American? Also, understandably she's in fear, but perhaps she should not be as the Taliban has been letting Americans through checkpoints on their way to the airport. Sounds like she's just frozen in fear, but justifiably the US government can't resort to chauffeuring thousands of people directly from their residences to the airport. People have had a year and a half to prepare for this exit.

I'm sympathetic but come on - COVID has taught us pretty strongly that sympathy is limited. If you were given a free vaccine and didn't take it, I have limited sympathy. If you were told to get out of a potential war zone but you stayed for months, I have limited sympathy.

I do fully expect to see thinly sourced fake news about it though. There will be reports of Americans stuck in Afghanistan well into next year. But the reports will be unverified.

Let me be clear. The 8/31 part is bogus. Biden will still be working to get Americans out after that if any are really left there (probably will).
But if Biden actually left people there who wanted to get out then, yes, America would have a meltdown and that's why it won't happen.
