5/3 stats
Interesting statistic things going on.
Today in the US we had the lowest death count since April 3. Just 1,154 souls lost. But the 7 day average change is still quite positive: +4% per day. Why? Because April 28, a Tuesday, had a 78% rise in deaths and is still in the average. It's as if you did a 20 mile run on Tuesday and then a bunch of short runs the other days. The average day is still boosted.
But the US 3 day average change of daily deaths, which does not include April 28, is very good: negative 19% per day.
So the question is...will Tuesday again be miserable, giving back the gains we've had in the US, with its 5 straight days with negative growth? I hope not.
The world also has a Sunday effect - it had a good day on 5/3 too but the longer term averages are still bad.
World 7 day average change of daily deaths: +1% per day.
But same deal:
World 3 day average change of daily deaths: -15% per day.
Monday was pretty bad last week in the world and US too...so we'll get a clue tomorrow.
No change in Sweden or the US place in the standings: 10th worst and 16th worst, respectively.
US patients in critical care hit a new high on Saturday: 16,400. That is around 6% more than last week. That seems to be bad news but not terrible news. The big question of course is if this virus will expand across the country in the same way it expanded in NY NJ CT.
