absolutely amazing to me that Americans, children of the enlightenment and supposedly live and breathe democracy would choose lies and proto-fascism. Trumpist Americans are no better than italians or germans or japanese or confederates who chose racial hatred lies and resentment over their better natures.

Yes indeed. I've said for a long time that the best thing that could happen to the world is for Trump to no longer be in it. That wouldn't completely extinguish Trumpism, but it would help a lot.
Ironically, the best thing that can happen for Democrats in the midterms is for Trump to be heavily involved.
