As a proud 1:08 HM runner, this is ticks me of LOL. Anybody came across what race this was on Power of 10 or elsewhere? Or is this another "eeeeeeeeh the 10K was actually 7K situation"?

I bet there are dozens if not hundreds of other webcams that RV passed by since this started. Too bad there's not a public repository of webcam video.

On the very first day, the time-stamped tracking on the map on his website went down the Santa Ana River Bike Trail for about 20 miles. The RV did NOT follow that route. It is closed to vehicles and there would be no way to get an RV down it or across the footbridges. And there are no roads that consistently run beside that bike trail.

There are definitely times that the tracker is NOT coming from the RV.

Warrenton, heh? He must be having fun. It's 92 degrees and sunny, heat index 98, and the pollen count is high. If I were him, I'd be riding in the RV, too.

ESPN and CCTV crew are NOT traveling with him the whole time. That is what the fan boys/girls are purporting or they're misunderstanding. They're there only at times to gather footage here and there. Rob is also misconstruing words to provide an impression that they're with him all through out the race.

If he's in the van driving to get food then he's cheating, since the tracker data clearly showed that as supposedly being a legitimate 10mph stretch of running, not a break for food. The van isn't going fast enough to be "scoping out the road ahead either", as the tracking data clearly shows a steady 10mph pace through this entire section with no backtracking.

When we began a few days ago, he’d already completed somewhere around 270 marathons in 240 days!

He’s been starting each marathon at about 5-5:30/mile pace, gradually slowing over the first half marathon, and then jog/walking the second half. So he frequently blows through the early stations without support, and still manages to finish with a smile on his face. This is just really odd to me..why it wouldn't raise any red flags..new runner takes off at blazing speed and isn't seen until after the 13.1 point, and is walking..

Part A) Unless Rob only takes the larger SPOT tracker on paths where he and the van are substantially separated - which would make sense to do for a small path of say 20 or 40 miles.

Part B) remind me of the times that you say are impossible?

Just to clear up a couple of things people are saying about the tracker.

The tracker you see in the video is a tracker from open tracking. It's a gps/mobile network tracker. It stores data points from the gps sensor and fires them to the Internet via the mobile/cell network. It stores up to 2000 data points when not in cell range then sends to the tracking page.

He does not have a spot tracker that page displayed is a open tracking page. Spot displays differently.

I use spot and also run events in the uk that use open tracking trackers. I am friends with the guys who own open tracking and they won't be altering data.

The track is stored afterwards as well and can't be easily edited by the user.

It's clear he is not wearing it all the time or even most of the time.

What if it remains on when he rides in the van and goes and gets food or finds a place to sleep away from the last spot run.

Guiness doesn't take these things lightly. There has to be proper verification.

His buddy CoachKev said he was in contact with Rob's crew and that he said the tracker was on the van. All of us assumed until then that Rob had the tracker on him which is what is expected. So, we didn't make this up to stir up more controversy. Here is the thing. Why not release the simple GPS data that any hobbyjogger can after his 5 mile run? Most times, they load automatically. Why makes things harder?

So am I. I already know the splits. That's how I've been posting them since the day this thread started.

Sorry, I just want in on the spoils. I was disappointed when the file disappeared. I'm having trouble keeping up with this thread. I subsequently read that you were going to upload the file when you get back to that computer. Anyway, company is just rolling up for the weekend so I may have to come back Monday when this thread has tripled in size... Best of luck in getting other data posted!

Keep up. This was discussed several pages back. Let's not rehash old stuff. Focus on the new stuff coming in.
