The conditions that allowed him to get his country to go along with it were created by the Treaty of Versailles.
Neither of these have f*ck all to do with absolving him of Germany's behavior during the war.

Trump does not want the US to be that military and neither does the American public.

Zelensky was very clear he wasn't signing a deal that didn't include security guarantees. Only now that Trump took the deal off the table has Zelensky suddenly turned a corner - or so he says.
