If it is Paradise Valley, it's an okay job. Dave Barney has been the Head Coach since the program started in 1995. He's had a lot of success both in cross country and moving athletes on to the next level. It's a good location with facilities already in place. I just thought Dave had a few more years until he was retiring.
Yes its Paradise Valley Community College, full title on the job listing is " Head Coach who serves as the women’s and men’s Track & Field Coach and Coordinator of Cross Country". The link didn't post the way i thought it would, thought it would have the job name in the preview. Sorry about that!
They are NJCAA D2 in XC and D1 in track. In D2 you are allowed to give scholarships for tuition, books, and fees. There is no D2 track so they have to compete at D1 there. They field a full track team with sprints, distance, and field events. 90% of their roster is local. They finished 2nd in women's XC, 4th in men's XC,.
NEW YORK, NY ??? Todd Witzleben, a distinguished coach with a proven track record as a recruiter and developer of talent, has been appointed as the Head Coach for
I’m surprised they kept their vault coach, he hasn’t done anything worthwhile.
How many scholarships were allotted to PV?
A decent amount, he got the #1 HS girl on a full and she scored 0 points at big 12’s. I don’t think he’s scored a single point since being there. Most have to make their way in this profession by scoring without much money going into their events. It’s called proving yourself.

Hahaha "it's called proving yourself"? Pretty everyone here has btdt. I was not defending this person. I'm genuinely asking how many scholarships have gone into PV at Arizona in the past 3 years.
Who is the #1 HS girl, and which state? Muhammad from California? I see she's a freshman who came onto the team mid year. She no heighted at Big 12s... as a freshman... Was opening height near her PR bar height? Depending on meet management, vaulters can sometimes have too much lag time between their warm up and competition. And - for a freshman especially - a competition that gets your adrenaline cooking can suddenly make you super human. In vault that means you have to switch to a bigger pole, maybe to a size you rarely (if ever) get to practice on. Anyway, no heights happen. That's hardly an indicator of the vault coach's failure. If anything he's done a great job landing such a blue chip recruit to a program that has been in flux for years.
Whats the scoop on this hire? Seems like he's got some decent development over the last few years, especially his frosh. Any insiders that can give us a deeper dive?
You sounds just like the PV coach I used to work with. Nothing like getting a pay check for coaching 5-6 kids, maybe recruiting 2-3 a year and never scoring points. Hey the height progression wasn’t in our favor, it was windy, we need to buy more poles!!! She was hitting a 16’ bungee in practice for weeks.
Good thing they got to use the facility for their high school club after hours and make bank while the rest of us were recruiting and coaching the 30 athletes that carried the team.
Hey on Monday they are going to run two laps and do a yoga tape from YouTube. Coaching
