The Bell Curve states it's about 60-80% heritable.
Page 298 of THE BELL CURVE
"A good place to start is by correcting a common confusion about the role of genes in individuals and in groups. As we discussed in Chapter 4, scholars accept that IQ is substantially heritable, somewhere between 40 and 80 percent, meaning that much of the observed variation in IQ is genetic. And yet this information tells us nothing for sure about the origin of the differences between races in measured intelligence. This point is so basic, and so commonly misunderstood, that it deserves emphasis: That a trait is genetically transmitted in individuals does not mean that group differences in that trait are also genetic in origin."
A very slippery and disingenuous reply. “The left” is pointedly clear about what kind of country and society it envisions, and that’s the problem for the right. They think a more egalitarian and personally free USA represents some kind of apocalypse. They know what they hate but can’t propose any kind of sustainable, liveable alternative for the majority of actually existing Americans. This is why they prefer endless, angry culture ways. It’s a purely minoritarian discourse, and it will fail— or fail the country if it ever gets anywhere politically.
It's disingenuous for the left to pretend that the US is some racist hell hole the way they do.
The utopian dream they think the US is failing to live up to doesn't exist anywhere on the planet.

The horrific footage shows three women and two men repeatedly striking the 60-year-old cabbie with shoes and closed fists near Sixth Avenue and W. 34th Street on July 19.
Wrong....reparations were paid to some of the slave owners in America.
Reparations were paid to the French by the former slaves of Haiti.
Reparations were paid to the British slave owners, which Great Britain just finished paying for in 2015.
1. Black soldiers fought and died for the Union Army as well...in segregated units led by white commanders. They were actual pivotal in turning the war around for the Union. Plenty of racist white folks fought to keep black people slaves...ie the confederate
2. The war on poverty wasn't limited at all for black people, it was for all people and blacks were not on the receiving end of most of it.
3. Affirmative Action. We have had it for 350 years. It was affirmative action for white males in every field, as they were given preferential treatment over people of color and women. It wasn't until the mid 1960's that everyone could even vote.
Dude....you haven't even started paying at all. Right now and I mean right now, the U.S. Government is trying to figure out how to compensate the thousands of black farmers and their decedents for all the land the the U.S. government, state governments and local governments stole from African-Americans. Always a fool talking crap and lying on black people.
In 1910, about 14 percent of U.S. farmers were Black, owning more than 16 million acres. Now, according to the latest Census of Agriculture, only one in 100 farmers is Black, owning less than 5 million acres. A new documentar...
When the United Kingdom abolished slavery, the government compensated slave owners for the value lost from freeing enslaved people. It is true the Bank of England only recently paid off these debts in 2015. Didn't give a slave a single pence. Britain stood out among European states in its willingness to appease slave owners.
On Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee approved a bill that would create a commission on slavery reparations. H.R. 40 takes its name from the unfulfilled promise of 40 acres and a mule.
SMH.....this is exactly how you guys lie, just like the lie about slaves learned skills to benefit them.
Who knows why he was beatdown. Probably did a bait and switch with the fair and called them out of their names. Regardless they were most likely wrong if they threw the first punch and will be punished accordingly. Can't say the same when tens of thousands of blacks are beat by the police for centuries with impunity.
"The left” is pointedly clear about what kind of country and society it envisions, and that’s the problem for the right."
This is a problem for only those people stuck in the societies that the THE LEFT creates, runs, manages and leads.
San Francisco Baltimore LA Seattle Portland Chicago
All of these places are 100% run by THE LEFT and are third world dystopian nightmares of poverty, crime, drug use and under performing schools. Blue States, in general, suck horribly and this why people cannot move out of them fast enough.
But all of these cities are integral parts of the country in which you and other conservatives live. They contain 10s of millions of your fellow citizens. What would you do to convince them that you have a vision and a set of workable policies that would improve their lives and communities? What would you and other conservatives offer rural Americans in overwhelmingly red states who haven't been doing particularly well either (to put it mildly)? Answering boring questions like this is what politics used to entail.
I would agree that the Democratic machine politicians that have run many of these cities for years have abjectly failed to improve the lives of the people who inhabit them., But there is a broader left in the country that has been struggling to come up with practical appeals to ordinary Americans in these cities and elsewhere for years now.
Both the left and right in the US are trying to build social movements that might move the needle of change in the country's politics, but so far what the right is offering amounts to a siege against the things and people it hates, while the left is trying to address people's actual needs. One is an angry and increasingly unstable minoritarianism and the other strives to build new American majorities. For illustration, you don't need to look any further than the difference between the rhetoric of Donald Trump versus, say, that of Bernie Sanders.
Your post is a sad example of the shrill catasphrophism that characterizes the post-Trump American right. There is nothing the "libs" could have done in the past 8 years or so that could have made you all go so crazy. What unhinges you is the creeping realization that you are an ever shrinking minority. You can't find a single staple conservative policy position these days that has more than 50% national support in this country (even while many of them enjoy 80+ per cent support among Republicans); whereas ALL of the major leftwing non-culture war positions, and especially major ones like medicare for all, have majority popular support. Yet, you seem bent on narrowing your appeal even further, seemingly by the week these days.

You know, I wouldn't care if FLA abolished the teaching of African American history per se entirely, IF, that is, it were prepared to promote the teaching of American history in general with some real rigor. Because there would be no way of avoiding the reality of suffering by subaltern peoples that you describe in a true accounting of the history of European settler colonialism. The crimes are FAR worse than most people ever realize. Imagine, e.g. if white Americans had had to pay the British back for the value of what they took in declaring a revolution against their subjugation by the British in the way the Haitians were required to pay the French for daring to free themselves by force from chattel slavery!
LBJ’s Great Society Program was the bootstrap that MLK sought. Guess that didn’t work. Is that because of racism?
Maybe because funds were diverted to support the Vietnam War. Along with on the local level in rural areas, theft and funneling the funds for the programs into their own pockets, which continues to this very day with Brett Farve and the state of Mississippi TANF money.
The single motherhood rate and crime rate is far higher for blacks now than in 1965. Are you arguing america is more racist now?
Or it's due to culture...
The world is very different today and those aren’t the only two metrics that should be used to measure progress. America is less racist now thanks to generational changeover.

Dude (adult...), please block me as I've blocked you. Your comments are way outside the bounds of normal, constructive political discourse. Among the casual, amateur reactionaries on here, I think you're quite likely an organized card-carrier-- a pretty committed, self-aware fascist of some type or other. You think you're bringing hard-headed realism to these discussions, but you're bringing nothing but your own darkness and willful ignorance.
Single parents in the United States have become more common since the second half of the 20th century. In the United States, since the 1960s, there has been an increase in the number of children living with a single parent. T...
I would wager that the trend is more prominent in poor areas. Marriage is down. I am all for incentivizing marriage and children. I've read mixed opinions on whether or not incentives work for increasing birth rate though.
Bernie Sanders referred to west Baltimore as like a 3rd world country. Elijah Cummings said it was infested with drug-addicted zombies.
Yet Trump was the only one attacked.
Stop saying "woke", first of all. It announces you as an idiotic culture warrior.
I'm very much on the left, and I would say Trump was onto something when he said Democratic machine politicians have done very little for ordinary people in the cities they have governed for years (i.e. in his "what do you have to lose" speech). But, being Trump, he followed up his comments with absolutely nothing substantive. His attention was quickly directed elsewhere, likely towards himself.
Over the years, Trump has gotten, then quickly lost, several genuinely populist ideas entailing some kind of redistribution that would benefit poor and working people (remember his "infrastructure" talk?). But the truth is that neither he nor any of the other faux populists on the right (your Josh Hawleys, etc) have any intention of doing anything that would genuinely benefit the ordinary people they claim to champion, because they will never bite the hand that funds their politics writ large-- that of right wing oligarchs. Witness their conspicuous silence when working people try to take a little back from the bosses in the only way they have available to them-- unionization/job actions. If conservatives won't use the government to redress the country's truly gaping material inequalities (the worst since the Gilded Age), and won't support workers in doing it themselves, then how is it supposed to happen?
Republicans will ensure that it won't happen under any kind of administration. They will continue to cry "socialism!' at the mildest forms or modern redistribution, and offer ordinary people a steady diet of increasingly unhinged culture war nonsense. Corporate Democrats do this too to some extent, offering nothing but "lesser-evilism" year after year, but there still exists SOME possibility of a constructive, progressive alternative within that party. By contrast, the GOP is now so completely straight-jacketed by ever-crazier forms of ideological orthodoxy (starting with fealty to Donald Trump), that there is no possibility of constructive solutions to any problem you can name emanating from it. There is increasingly no way to make sense of it at all, except perhaps in terms of some kind of collective, Freudian death-urge.
