Funny how, as soon as the LR critics find out you're not just some target on YouTube they are quick to row back on how harsh they've been. Everything that's wrong with social media in a nutshell.
He takes the average HR from the last 3k of a 5km time trial/PB (17.30) on a hot day and uses that as his lactate threshold HR, from which he sets his zones, and recommends you do the same. Absolutely insane. Generously, I can only think he's completely misunderstood and butchered the Friel 30 min test. I can't believe a coach is using this.
No wonder that he and his wife have since performed the worst executed threshold sessions since FOD Runner (love you really Andy)
My man Seth did some crazy three- or five-peak thing from the Longs Peak trailhead with his brother a week or two back. I'd rather see this crazy stuff than the Detroit half or whatever. You go, Seth!

Wait! What? Wasn't Seth at the Olympics? I'm confused. I thought he was the world's best distance runner? He can run 40 miles around a Trader Joe's in frigid weather. I assumed that he would win all of the distance events in Paris.

Garth was at the Olympics giving Seth the play by play in real time on his iPhone. Do you even watch the channel?

Running YouTube channels feel like it's washed out and run it's course.
this is certainly how it feels to me... it would take too much work to crunch numbers from socialblade and viewstats to try to determine if this is true though.

Gave up on him a while ago! One of the clickbaitiest of them all and painfully unlikeable. Pretty sure he also pissed off a load of other YouTubers when he ran a "Squid Game"-style running challenge and made some ridiculous elimination rules.

Andy we would appreciate if you spent less time on these message boards and more time thinking of original content for your channel. Amongst your workout videos and race videos, goal setting, best sessions for X-distance, (ie the decent vlog ideas), your channel has been dominated this year by an obscene amount of shoe reviews and 'top 5 shoes of 2024' as if we needed 7x of those videos in this year already, and when you run out of ideas you seem to default back to picking 2 pairs out of your cupboard and making a comparison video? Take a lesson from your mate Seth, that's a sure-fire way to tank your channel as it's very boring for subscribers.
Quality over quantity.
But hey, it could be worse, it's not like you made a video panning the Pegasus 41's (great shoe) after only 50mins of running... or made money off of other people's hard work by monetising videos just reading out other peoples' training plans (Clayton Young, Adam Wood, Stephen Scullion, etc).
On the topic of shoe reviews - one reason why I think they might be popular is because shoe companies seem to make it deliberately difficult to understand their myriad of shoes in their line ups.
Why do shoe companies do this? Surely it would be in their interest to name and describe their shoes in such a way so that the average hobby jogger, who isn't obsessed with running and tech, could quicky understand what they needed to buy to meet their needs.

Can anyone explain this?
the vagueness allows for people to trial-and-error buy various different shoes = more sales. Also the true hobby jogger doesn't care, they just pick up a pair in store with a nice design/colour, feel them out, and buy them - they're not giving much more thought than that.
From the company's perspective, those who dont care - wont look into it, and those who do care will already know the differences by the model it falls under. It's also worth pointing out that various shoe companies pay channels to do reviews of their shoes for publicity and explanations of the model, and in the interim, shoe stores (Sports Shoes, Pro Direct) who sell on shoes will do similar on their own channels
No doubt the shoe reviews can sometimes be popular if it is a really hyped shoe or one that is freshly released, though it is almost unanimously targeted at the customer who doesn't know better and is just googling the shoe name. I do see the use sometimes for a comparison between Alphafly 1 vs 2 for eg, but only when there is a real demand for them. Every youtuber floods the web with these lazy reviews, rarely offering anything more than oneanother, no quality insights, and frequently run on not enough mileage (in order to get the review out quicker to monopolise the market share of clicks).
A good example being Ben Parkes shoe reviews which are now just boiled down to him reading out the facts and figures about the shoes which we can google + a couple likes/dislikes that always reveal he hasn't run on them much. Seth Demoor comes up with loads of crazy analysis (like his famously ill-executed use of the durometer) but consistently did these off of only 1 run. Pathetic.
