Kudos to the President for being among the first to push this 'cure' for the chinese virus.

Correct!
-Washington (Kirkland) nursing home: No hydroxychloroquine, 35 deaths out of 120 residents
-Texas nursing home: Treatment WITH hydroxychloroquine, 1 death out of 135 residents

But, the two of you are morons. If the drug actually does help people with COVID-19, then Trump just got lucky. He's not a scientist or a doctor, and he's dumb as a door knob, and even if you don't agree on the latter, he has no training or experience that would tell him this drug might be a good thing. He just wants this to be past us as soon as possible to increase his chances of reelection, so he glomed onto this glimmer of hope with no real basis to do so. When he was pitching it, it hadn't had anywhere near enough study to determine if it would work or not, and even today with a little more evidence, it's not a foregone conclusion.
Doesn't matter that 92% of patients had a good outcome on the drug...the death rate is only at 1-2%. Do you not have a brain? You could have had that outcome on a placebo. Phase IV trials are necessary really to determine the efficacy. I know you are not a doctor, but I know non-doctors who can understand this. Thank God I am not as addled as you are.
