Elect a clown, expect a circus.
Very weak from the Administration. We can also chalk it up as yet another lie from Trump.

Who are "our enemies" in the Pacific? There are no wars there.
FYI: The letter was leaked by Trump. Do try to keep up.
More BS from an unregistered troll. The letter was leaked by the San Francisco Chronicle. Again, you do NOT go outside the chain of command.

Well agip, Europe and America have had it much, much worse. I hope you’ve taken you blinders off now.

Perhaps you are not aware, but the ships namesake Roosevelt did the exact same thing as the ships captain back in his day.

I’m actually looking forward to writing up Sunday’s data - probably it is better than it should be because Sunday, but the trends are good.
No idea what you mean by blinders. You may be thinking of someone else.

I don't know his side of the story as to why he did it that way. Maybe it was justified.
His letter was totally irresponsible. He advertised to our enemies his ship's compromised condition of his crew. He deserved to lose his command.
You never let the enemy know what the status of your ship is. Never, ever. He put more soldiers at risk than the virus did.
Dumb@ss... that’s all I can give you.

Trigged is personally butthurt that yet another hero emerges in sharp contrast to the distinguishing fat body occupying the WH, so he will throw anything out there to defend his orange god.

The virus was directly endangering the lives of his crew. What other "enemy" was threatening them off Guam?
Trump approved of the sacking and yet only a couple of months ago pardoned a US serviceman convicted of war crimes in the ME. You will support anything the orange blob chooses to do, no matter how inconsistent and contradictory.

I give posters & politicians nicknames such as ?pole, Sourbuns, Facts hurt, Beta O'Dork, Turkey neck Mitch, Dementia Joe, Mittens (Romney), Pencil Neck, etc.
Smorbun/Sourbuns- only curses and calls people idiots, stupid, morons, etc.
Because dork, clown and pencil neck are much less offensive than idiot, stupid and moron.
This has all kinds of issues.
Among them a violation of the First Amendment.
A reporter asked the doctor a question to confirm or deny Trump's thoughts on a drug he is promoting (probably has stock in it) and Trump steps in to shut the question down and prevent the doctor from answering it.
Is this America?
Trump has suggested people take this drug even if before they have symptoms, as a preventative measure for nurses and such.

Tiny even said he might take it himself. And he's just dumb enough to do it.
04/05 data
It's Sunday so all this should be taken with a punch of salt and a raised eyebrow.
But massive improvement yesterday.
world daily deaths
1 day: -18%
3 day average: -2%
Italy/France/Spain
1 day: -30%
3 day average: -6%
USA
1 day: -12%
3 day average +7%
And on and on.
If Sunday data are confirmed by Monday and Tuesday data then we have to think a peak has been cleared.
The data are strange... I think we do have to doubt this set of data because they are so much different than what we have been seeing.
The question for politicians then will be how long we hold the economy down.Glad I don't have to make that decision.
Change in world deaths over five days. You can see the break in the data.
Top number is oldest. bottom number is April 5.

I think the question of re-opening the economy is deceptively simple. It’s an issue of controlling the number of cases first; then ensuring that PPE, etc. exists so precautions are possible in future; and whether people accept the rules.
Unfortunately, USA is way behind because of trump in all these areas.

The key will be preventing a second wave. Not sure how they will decide when people can go back to work without triggering a second wave.
Ideally we all get antibody tests and those with antibodies can go do things.
But I will keep saying that the states messed this up too - the state is also supposed to prepare for disasters, not just the feds.

it's tricky with the military...the rules change in almost everything.
In the military the mission is more important than the individual.
You don't get to say 'well we had to lower our capabilities, fail our mission and tell our enemies that we are not at full strength - because you know, we were sick.'
You can do that in civilian life but not in the military.
It’s tricky but there is already some precedence and cover here as joint international military exercises have been cancelled due to infection concerns. The mission may be compromised if leaders don’t think straight... like that level headed Navy ship captain 100% making the right call. Losing troops unnecessarily is just plain stupid.
You can make the right call and still be wrong. Rigged is right. There are procedures in place if he had concerns. I would also guess this wasnt the first time he's conducted himself outside of proper procedures.
Here's an example:
Army asked DOD if they could suspend basic training, DOD said no. What if the post commander just decided for himself to suspend basic training. Would he be right? Such action would surely limit the spread.

To me the most fascinating part of the problem is that the captain no doubt knew he was going to be punished but did it anyway. He knew that it was the 'wrong' thing to do by the rules, but the 'right' thing to do as an officer responsible for the lives of everyone on that ship. Such a classic military leadership problem. I think there's little doubt Crozier will be remembered as a hero who fell on his sword to save his crew.
I suspect this might be a case study at the academies for a long time.
Also, there seems to be some conflict between civilians in control of the Navy and Naval officers. Seems that many Naval officers feel Crozier should have been reprimanded but not this much.

Preventing Fauci from answering a question may be stupid (what else do we expect) but it isn't a first amendment violation.
