I'm going to wait to see if France announces again why its totals are messed up for the day, but yesterday looks like a continuation of the improving news that we've been seeing.
The highlight and light at the end of the tunnel continue to be italy and spain - daily deaths there fell 12% in one day and the average for the last 3 days is -4%. Have to think they are over the hump.
France data is so messed up that I can't say anything about them and they are messing up the whole world's data. May have to do world ex-France.
The US had a very bad day (+31%) but the 3 day average is +9%. Much better, that, and better than the long term trend. The US has lumpy data. The hope is that NYC gets over the hump this week. No sign of that yet though.

Agree, there is room for optimism now in the worst-hit European areas.

My uncle is a pastor for a small Anglican church, which if you know anything about denominations is what I would call very old and conservative. He's also 70 yrs old.
We taught him how to live stream on FB so he could reach his congregation.
Some people adapt and use their heads in the face of a crisis.....others are simply ignorant and stupid.
Also.....I have no issue with churches holding service provided social distancing is enforced. However, most churches can't do this unless you enforce a strict reduced attendance policy, space out pews/chairs, etc. It can be done, but you have to get ahead of it.

In a church, if there is a six foot space, side to side and front to back, wouldn't they be using about 1/10th of normal capacity.

It can't be done. It is impossible to do this safely. We are still finding more and more about how this virus spreads and it appears that just keeping six feet apart won't cut it at church. It lives in the air and it lives on surfaces. Nowhere inside the church is safe.
To keep an entire congregation six feet apart would be a logistical nightmare anyway. People are people. Congregations congregate.
Plus, most congregations skew older, which makes it more dangerous still.
The only weapon we have against this virus right now is for as many as possible to stay home as much as possible. If you are a congregation that loves each other and loves your community then you will stay home.
