-- It is not about "hope." It is about "need" (must). What is happening now will happened again this fall. A serum won't be available to the general public until early next another year.

He isn’t cut out for a crisis and has been badly exposed.

Trump is the bully who hides behind the muscle of other people for his protection. Take that away, and let real men beat him up, and Trump is the cowering fool, crying in the corner because he is incapable of taking a hit and cannot fight to protect himself. Not a chance.

No doubt I've ranted on this before, but President Trump's "base" is committed to him because *he is they*--he is the embodiment of their anger and prejudices and (above all) their fear: fear of change, fear of The Other.

Some people think that Trump has transformed the GOP, but he's simply taken it to where it's been headed for at least 50 years . . . and he's been willing to say things that most Republicans previously hadn't been. To most current GOPers his "failings" are features, not bugs.

If the Dems want to win they'll have to motivate the nonvoter (in 2016) to be a voter this time around. They're just not going to get the votes of Trump's People--the very *most* the Dems can hope from them is that some won't be motivated to vote this time.

But most of them are motivated . . . more strongly than ever. They understand full well that a vote for president this November is a vote for a particular culture, and most current 'Pubs hate and fear what they think a non-Trump culture would be.

the 2018 midterms showed that there are plenty of white women in the suburbs who want trumpists out of office.

But sure, getting black voters to show up in Milwaukee, Phila and Detroit will be key.

I've given up on young voters - they've never voted in large numbers and they certainly won't this time. Spend the money on white suburban women and black voters.

What's wrong with saying that our president has given us great hope?

He has provided unparalleled optimism at the time of crisis. I mean, who else has said that the virus will one day disappear like a miracle? This is the exact kind of optimism we need.

Remember when FDR said the only thing we had to fear was fear itself? And you thought he was a great president, right?

We don't need any more pseudo-campaign rallies at taxpayers' expense.
