The Secret Service is looking incredibly negligent if not worse regarding the assassination attempt. Their excuses are really flimsy, and it turns out the shooter was observed with a range finder well before Trump was to speak. Although evidence still needs to be developed, the narrative that Trump was purposely left in harm’s way will not go away easily. This is not a defense of either candidate’s policies but again this is not a good look. And stonewalling like Mayorkas is doing will make things worse, as will demonizing local police who were assigned to traffic control.
