Woodbridge boys showed me a few things:
Herriman is in a league of it's own. Scoring under 100 points is Newbury Park type stuff, but to score under 80, and in the most stacked field team-wise ever assembled at Woodbridge??? Absolutely, undeniably, the best team in the nation, and it might not even be that close
The California teams will not get an at-large. Despite being outside the window teams are looked at, Woodbridge shows how the Cali teams stack up, and not even putting one team in the top 7 is pathetic. No at large for them, unless they do something mental like a Cali team upsetting Herriman at Bob Firman
The Northwest is STACKED AND ALSO UNDER THE RADAR. 4 of the top 5 individuals come from the Northwest. Jesuit OR, Franklin, and Rocky Mountain, all teams that have resume's that are in the ballpark with the other top NW teams, were missing. The teams that did come, got 3rd, 5th, and 7th, and again, that's missing 3 of the teams that have legitimate NXR podium chances.
The individual competition this year might rival 2022. Plugging Owen Powell's time into last year's speed ratings puts out a ~199. The same goes for Josiah Tostenson. Obviously it's not a perfect measure, but its a good baseline estimate, and barring the course being short, shows that we have at least a couple Northwest guys who could take the NXN course record, and guys like Noonan, who obviously are better than this race shows, shouldn't be counted out either.
