Trump's recent interviews (which must be driving his lawyers insane, if he really has any left) are essentially admissions to the core elements in it, and his interviews will be admissible if the prosecutor wants to bring them in.

Let’s just consider a hypothetical situation: Imagine a political candidate of any party. That person either commits a crime before declaring or after having done so.
Do you investigate? If so, do you prosecute? If you don’t do either, consider the possibility that the candidate takes this as carte blanche for committing crimes. If the crimes get more frequent and/or more severe, do you investigate or prosecute?
If you don’t, how do you view risk and reward in that scenario?
