Note 1: US fatality rate is creeping back up even as accelerated testing has greatly increased the detection of COVID-19 cases. This is not a good sign that the Agip Hypothesis is true (though I very much wish it was).

Note 2: Daily death rate increase of 23% is very much in line with pretty much everywhere COVID-19 has gotten a toehold. That implies a doubling time of roughly 3 days.

Note 3: Good news? The rate of increase in reported cases has been creeping down over the last 4 days which suggests that testing has finally more or less caught up with the actual growth of this. Coincidentally(?), the daily increase in cases over the last 4 days has hovered around 23%, matching the death rate increase AND matching what we have seen throughout the world.

A: Excellent question. That is because I AM posting two sets of numbers for daily percentage increase.

In the post above I present "Compound daily growth rate since Mar 7". That is, this number represents the level of daily percentage increase that, if carried through consistently every day since Mar 7, would yield the same number of total cases/deaths as the actual numbers. This number changes slowly over time and is good for avoiding getting lost in the day-to-day noise in the numbers.

In some other posts I present the actual daily change in cases/deaths for each day. This number changes quite a bit from day to day. It is a bit too easy to get lost in this daily noise looking at this number. On the other hand, it does show changes in long term trends more quickly than the compound method above. This can be useful when seeing the drop-off in growth rates following a serious lockdown in a given country. With this, it is easier to see the magnitude of the drop-off, the delay between action and a visible impact on cases and the delay between the slowdown in cases and the resulting slowdown in deaths.

Seems like we are headed in the wrong direction, no?

2) You said the cure for the Coronavirus was worse than the pandemic. Can you elaborate on that egregiously idiotic statement?

Trump had three years to replenish them. Whatever the level of preparedness for a pandemic was before the outbreak, it was 100% the responsibility of the Trump administration. If the system in place was inadequate when he took office, three years was enough time to strengthen it.

A daily 20% increase has us at nearly 300k deaths in total in the US by the end of April.

During the three years you have been President, did you have an analysis performed of our preparedness for a pandemic, and if so, what were the recommendations and why weren't they followed."

Looks like worldometers rolled out of 3/27 stats so here's what I got.

Another rough day out there.

Global deaths up 17% over 3/26.

Italy/spain/france daily deaths up 11% day over day.

Those are big numbers and not moving toward 0.

Disappointing that I/S/F is not slowing down in daily deaths. If we want to believe they are our future, our future is not good yet.

Things do look better in the new daily cases...there Italy hit its 9th day in a band.

But Spain and France don't have that kind of topping chart in new cases.

The best positive twist I can put on them is that the 3 day moving average of daily deaths in both groups is lower than the average since the plague began. Which suggests that the growth has slowed. But we've had two bad days in a row so that measure will probably reverse tomorrow and not be a positive.

Globally, the growth in daily deaths over 5 days rejoined the longer trendline. Not good. Although looking at the data, that might be a one-day number. Looking at trends, the slowing of increases in 5 day growth in deaths will likely resume tomorrow.

Wish I could find more positive things but the last two days have been bad.

Biden doesn’t have to address any of your questions.

Especially the ones that accentuate Trump’s shortcomings as a leader.

All Biden needs to do is beat Trump like a drum.

And all he has to do to accomplish that is not be Trump (and don’t die).
