Dunno about agip, but I anticipate that the USA's problem with insufficient (i.e. below 2%) inflation is about to end. You pump a spare trillion or two into the economy, with no concomitant increase in goods and services, and prices should rise after a while . . .

He cannot lie himself out of this.
It will be so much worse in the upcoming months.
We will remember March 2020 as the good old days when people were on a bit of a break from work.
There is no stimulus that can cover for the fact that people are not producing right now.
Wait until things go bad for Florida.
Trump absolutely cannot win without Florida,

You think New Orleans is bad now after Mardi Gras.
Right, while the US numbers may be slightly delayed in reporting (I'd rather that the hospitals focus on the patients first and the reporting later), there is no plausible way that each state/city/hospital is deliberately underreporting their numbers. If Trump announced the total numbers each night, I'd be more inclined to doubt them, but as we have seen many state governments are taking the lead on this.

Probably not. Demand has fallen off a cliff and there is actually a glut of just about everything out there now... the stimulus is going to keep some of that supply excess going and with crude prices at current levels inflation should remain ultra low.
Well, I *did* say "after a while". . .

I've had to stop writing 'day of' pieces - the data have been coming in later. fingers crossed tho.

You are correct that the epidemic will get worse and worse. We may still be fighting it when Labor Day arrives. Unfortunately I do not share the confidence of others that this will sink the Führer's reelection. Those with more faith in our system and in our voters have assured me since the day after the last general election that he will be forced to resign because of such and such an issue, or by some particular date. I have never shared that optimism. Support for him in certain sectors remains rock solid, and is in some respects even more defiant than ever. Meanwhile, the Democrats are about to choose the weakest of candidates to run against him. The election will be like a showdown between the nasty little corporal from Austria and doddering old Paul Hindenburg. Additionally, as the epidemic gets worse, do you think the the short-sighted people who were conflicted about the choice between electing a neofascist goon and a lame Democrat in 2016 will be any wiser? These are the sorts of voters who will fall for the worse lies and calumnies put forward from the White House. I'm not speaking here to those of you who support the Führer--you people are beyond redemption. I am talking to those inclined to vote for a Democrat who are *still* convinced it is likely things will be ok. It's possible, but it's also highly likely we will get four more years under this reign of terror. "This clown is done" ... really? You think so? Never bought it. The divisions we face and the power behind this administration are far too great to go without a very dangerous upcoming episode, I greatly fear.
You overrate him.
As millions of personal tragedies unfold, people will resent our lazy fat boy.

The only thing we know about your wife is that she is an idiot to be supporting Trump. "Big-time Liberals" do not support Trump. You have a lot of nerve continuing to post here after calling this a phony virus and constantly trying to minimize it. You remain the dumbest person I have ever encountered.
Rich countries get poor through poor gov’t. Many won’t trust trump to manage a pandemic & a mountain of debt & competition from better-governed nations.

We are talking about a unique specimen who lives and breathes conning others. ANY political opponent was going to be made to look weak. If this election was a competition between only qualified and respectable people, there is no way that terms such as Sleepy Joe and Quid Pro Joe would be thrown around. We would be debating the core policy differences between these people. But like everything else he touches, trump is making a mockery of the process, creating a circus like atmosphere for the mouth breathers to cheer, laugh and roar. That is our biggest problem, the example being set and empty seat in the WH... the bar is not even that low anymore, it has simply morphed to who can entertain the most and attract social media attention. In Nov it will be confirmed whether Americans have become a total joke or not.
The one trend that all of us should be able to agree on is that since the Coronavirus became real here in America, the polls say Trump's approval rating is increasing.
If Trump were smart, which he clearly isn't, he would embrace what medical experts are saying and drag this out as long as it possibly should go to keep him front and center in the news every day. His idea that we should all get back to work as normal is seriously risky, and if we all get back to what is normal, normal says he has a 41-43% approval rating.
At this point, I see Trump's re-election chances going up the longer this pandemic goes on, and they go down the sooner we get through this.

That is good news. We simply can't have crap like that based on nothing but political bias on the air.
Again, based on ignoring other countries. Their example and their competition would give anyone pause. Just like healthcare, people will see that others have it & we don’t when this becomes real in every town in America. There are still lots of deniers.
