Serious question, who is Ben Fenton’s coach? Is he still coached by that Victor Smags bloke?
isnt it some bosnian gangster looking for a visa to live in england? whoever he is, he hasnt got a clue
who is philys coach and how did she find him? id love to know his credentials as he sounds like the pinnacle of clueless in the last dire vid if tortured myself through
Her coach also coaches Rory Linkletter who has had good results under him. I’m pretty sure he coached Molly Seidel to good results as well. With Philly Bowden it’s not the coach, it’s her, she would be a nightmare to coach. She over thinks and questions everything. If you’ve seen the interactions between the coach and Rory vs the coach and Philly you will see a massive difference.
Yep, first time watching a full ep of that nonsense pod but I couldn't help but laugh when he asks RTJ twice, what social media running fads he wants to leave in 2025.
This question coming from a guy with a social media run club , sponsored by run*a , who will literally shill whatever is put in front of him. The lack of self awareness is staggering.
this sounds like my existence, except i am in no mans land 14:50 - 14:59.99
the days of uni-athletics and eight-lane bring back much nostalgia, if only we could go back instead of having to sit on this toilet of filth for athletics insight
no man shall ever forget the tale of chris parrs chunder mile world record at luffbra, the golden era of the sport
parr and hogg chunder battling, great stuff. the antics of the leeds reprobates quite funny too. (shame about luke cragg turning out a bit, uh, letsrunny mind.)
I don't think I've ever enjoyed a running channel video featuring Tom.
He seems to actively dislike running...which is fine, horses for courses, but I don't understand why he features in so many of their videos.
Surely one of the prerequisites to bring a presenter on the running channel is being enthusiastic about running.
You mean you didn't feel inspired by his 9hr 30 50k ultra? For context I walked 56km with a 60 year old man in 10hr 30 (9h 55 moving) in the summer. Surely The Running Channel should actually be running
Dont like it. Why they need to try to fit him in 4 runs a week trainingplan with this app? He needs long and faster hikes for sth like that.
Viewers see this and some try to replicate and think this is the way to do it. So please, get him a plan that suits him and make sense.
The app is never going to be able to create a sensible training plan for him for a 50k because him "running" a 50k in the first place isn't sensible. If your first 5k takes 45mins you shouldn't be doing a 50k.

He coached Molly Siedel to an Olympic medal, he's legit. I think Phily is the issue in their relationship.
Molly's medal looks more farcical by the year. A first-year biochem student could dose an elite athlete to a medal if they wanted
Phily is a headcase, no doubt, but his rapid training change midway through the Chicago build was asinine.
Probably time for them to sit down and hash things out. Clearly, something is not working
Hilarious whenever people post their times on Reddit and the distance is exactly 26.2 miles. They always post screenshots from their watches and never the chip time. Always funny when their times come in just under key times (ie 3:30,3:00,etc)

To be fair sub 10 hours on that course is pretty decent - although he only got a decent time due to his world class ability on the technical descents...
I thought FOD Runner's LT test video was interesting because it confirmed a few of my suspicions about the testing. First, experienced runners have a very good idea of their paces and LT zones. Second, the testing itself is inaccurate enough that I don't think anyone that really understands their body going into the test is going to make significant changes based on the results. They used a best fit line to try and give him his LT1 and LT2, but it was hardly the most quantitative analysis. I think doing the tests multiple times on a calibrated TM with MANY more tests around the LT curve (his had just a few) might yield better and more useful results. But it just doesn't seem like it's worth the expense and time for most of us.
It would be a lot better if Sagasu Running just stuck to talking about shoes, because his training is an absolute mess. A year ago, he was seriously saying he might maybe aim for a 1:20 half marathon… thankfully, 1:30 now sounds a lot more realistic. He even had a chart on YouTube where he claimed his marathon pace was 4:14/km and his easy pace 4:49/km. Supposedly, his interval pace is 3:26/km. Then you look at his Strava, and even holding 4:00/km for a single kilometer looks like pure agony. His so-called “easy pace” is faster than what many elite runners use for recovery runs. And his marathon PR? 3:53. What the hell? It doesn’t help that he’s unbearably arrogant, bragging about running in Nike Victory spikes like he’s Ingebrigtsen.
Watching Sagasu running video on best shoes of 2025. He claims to have tried 30 shoes in the past year, but per his Strava he has only logged 1600 miles. That's like 50 miles per shoe.
He ranks shoes based on his enjoyment of running in them (presumably a few times each), but such an important part of shoe choice is in their longevity/how they hold up over time.
He needs to run more in general. And now he's injured which he blames on, you guessed it, his shoes. Imagine having access to 30 pairs of the best running shoes and blaming the shoes when you get injured.

I wasn't expecting that treadmill to hold out so well at 3 mins per km...I was confused how they displayed the results - it seems they display LT2 in middle of threshold zone. Shouldn't it be at the top (i.e. 172bpm)?
RTJ podcast with Grift King is out. Pretty interesting listen even with the host waffling about wanting to go to altitude as a 3:30 runner and then being surprised that RTJ said he would rather go to the Olympics than do YouTube for the next 4 years.
Would love to have RTJ speak on a podcast with other high level coaches/ athletes that actually challenge him on some of his ideas, rather than just having an average athlete going - "wow that's so amazing you run loads and you are really quick."
I think inside running quizzed him a bit a while back, they were healthy amount of skeptical.

I liked that account at the start but now it’s just more of the same. Like going after people for 30 second differences, who actually cares if it’s 3:33.20 versus 3:33:45 marathon. Post decent cheating or shut up, it’s just craving content now so quality is in the bin.

Lol. I actually laughed out loud when he showed the cut he got from the barbed wire. I was expecting to see a degloved hand the way he was describing it, not a tiny scratch
