How many skinny young runners out there dream that if they get fast enough, maybe, just maybe, they can get the hot girl? Then you have Fenton who is internet famous, gets to run for a living, and is running respectable times…. who then puts his girlfriend on his videos… crushing all those dreams with a huge reality slap to the face. Running is not the path to getting the hot girl?! Ugh.
ben fenton makes boring videos but this post is really pathetic stuff. dismal. if you're young then you'll look back at this version of yourself ashamed; if you're over 25 then you need to grow up sharpish.
You must be Ben or his gf and only read this thread and are not a true LRC faithful. Everyone knows that on LRC all posters run sub 14 5k, make at least 500k and have a ridiculously hot wife. Your thin skinned post of ignorance is as pathetic as Fenton’s videos.
Nice, a youtube thread! I watch a lot of youtubers so this sounds like a good place do discuss our favourite channels. A guy I've been watching a lot lately is Donato, aka poetwithpace. He's a talented masters runner who has a Guinness world record to his name. The thing I like best about his channel is that he's not like all these running influencers you get now with their scripts and fancy packaging and all that jazz, and instead tells it like it is and ad libs. Check out his latest controversial video about Garmin.
I like Sam @LightItUpYeah too, good watch.
Sorry mate, Donato isn't popular on this thread. In my opinion this best YouTuber/content creator is TheDentalAthlete - works full-time as a dentist, training to run sub 15 mins 5k (whilst maintaining muscular build) and churns out 4/5 shorts per day helping us with training etc. Fair play!

Also a running coach, podcaster, brand ambassador and hybrid rockstar. Is there anything he doesn’t do? Luckily he stopped showing up on my feed a while back as really irks me. How does he have 70k followers on instagram and only gets a few hundred likes on each post?
RTJ podcast with Grift King is out. Pretty interesting listen even with the host waffling about wanting to go to altitude as a 3:30 runner and then being surprised that RTJ said he would rather go to the Olympics than do YouTube for the next 4 years.
Would love to have RTJ speak on a podcast with other high level coaches/ athletes that actually challenge him on some of his ideas, rather than just having an average athlete going - "wow that's so amazing you run loads and you are really quick."

alternatively: the post i slagged off was an unfunny, sexist, unprovoked bullying jab at a blameless human being.
depressingly got sucked in at university in 2001 and inexplicably spent many hours reading americans talking about these young lads ritz, web and hall. doubt you even remember athletics data and uni athletics
no-man's land between 14:10 and 14:20, south of £50k, lovely family who will i hope never know i'm wasting time on here
Berlin half is March , Manchester in May ....and lots of other decent 10k, 10 mile tune ups where fast could be worked on.
It really hinges in if she's prepared to play the long game.
Not sure why waiting until September for a marathon is a problem. It's the sensible thing here. Build mileage to adapt properly and not get stress injuries again. Work on speed next , the a Berlin A race.
Each to their own but that's what I'd suggest.
A real "pro" runner, who makes their living from running and not YouTube/scamming people for coaching would wait. They'd be sensible but there is a strange dynamic about these YouTubers and their need for constant "content".
Without the marathon narrative what is Bowden? The kind of fans she attracts don't care about HM or 10 miles, it's all about marathon. She can't charge people £100 a month as coach with the handle "70 min HM at Manchester" - her entire career is hanging by a thread here.
People on this thread love to talk about income of £250k a year for Bowden, and yes, that might be true but where is she in 3/5 years? She won't be able to continue pumping out content when she is 35 because she won't be running then. She won't be a Broom style masters runners. How can she charge £100 for coaching off the back of 1 good marathon and no social media presence? I can imagine the panic in that household is real.
Thats the problem: After 2027 the story is over. On the other hand, its normal for a influencer to have a mid lifespan, maybe 5 good years and i also believe most people maybe pay 1 year for coaching, just to try it out. After that, they know enough or are injured and so on.
The question ist: Why they dont use the time no and push Daniels Account. People like unfit to marathon stories.
It is painful listening to Callum talk, he clearly doesn't have a clue what he is on about 90% of the time.
Completely agree, the talk of an altitude camp for someone who barely runs is laughable. I don’t understand these people who claim to be into running but barely put in any mileage. It’s all shoes, tech, influencer events and not very much actually training!

Yeah the host made that a tough listen. Never listened to that Pod before, but I like Jake and wanted to hear a good interview with him. Unfortunately the host repeatedly saying "Wow, thats so much mileage" and "Japan is mad isnt it..." over and over made it pretty unbearable.
Plus not having a clue about athletics when you host a running podcast is a joke. Talking about the enhanced games with statements like "At best they'll get athletes that wouldnt make a final". Even surface level athletics fans will have watched the 100m Olympic final where Fred Kerley won silver.
I hope any serious runners avoid going on that pod. Probably perfect for Bester or Felton though - they can all spout bollocks together.

If you want to listen to Jake talk about running, with actual runners then you should listen to his interview on the insiderunningpodcast
Inspirational new video from The Running Channel with Tom, easily my most favourite RTC member. He does a difficult 50k ultra run despite referring to himself as a "quitter", and is a very relatable guy, which is refreshing when we usually get fed pro runners like Andy and Sarah. Might inspires me to sign up for an ultra, which is the pinnacle of running due to the difficulty, though may do a marathon first.

I was listening to a podcast with his coach recently (it was Matt Fox, please don't kill me!!)
His coach is a quick 10k guy but had never run a marathon. Serious question why would you get coached by someone who had never experienced the event.
Serious question, who is Ben Fenton’s coach? Is he still coached by that Victor Smags bloke?

this sounds like my existence, except i am in no mans land 14:50 - 14:59.99
the days of uni-athletics and eight-lane bring back much nostalgia, if only we could go back instead of having to sit on this toilet of filth for athletics insight
no man shall ever forget the tale of chris parrs chunder mile world record at luffbra, the golden era of the sport

He coached Molly Siedel to an Olympic medal, he's legit. I think Phily is the issue in their relationship.
