Let's discuss FACTS.

There were 60 Million cases of the swine flu in America. FACT.

There are 179 deaths from Coronavirus so far. FACT.

There are so far close to 12,000 cases of the virus. FACT.

Last year 80,000 Americans died from the flu. FACT.

80,000 is many more than 179. FACT.

Please tell me WHICH of these facts is NOT a fact. I will not be holding my breath. Again, which of these is NOT a fact?

FACT

The whole country and travel is mostly shut down by local governments and by Trump.

FACT

This is causing major financial stress.

OPINION

The economic downturn will last until the election and Trump will be soundly beaten as most voters will not find anything redeeming about his presidency.

So you concur with all of my FACTS?

This has been explained to you already. Your facts are not correct anyway (not a single one of them other than the last one because it is just one random number compared to another random number), but the main problem is that your reasoning behind what the current numbers are is greatly flawed. You are minimizing a novel virus that has a higher death rate than seasonal flu, and then you are also comparing it to a great flu pandemic from 1918 that killed about 50 million worldwide and seem to think that makes this novel virus insignificant. That is the thinking of a simpleton fool, which you are.

Ok, two simple data points here.

First, combining the big three countries into one pool of data.

Let's look at the change in daily deaths, day over day.

March 17 over March 16: +28%

March 18 over March 17: +8%

March 19 over March 18: +6%

So we see there that the increase in deaths is slowing over the last three days. This is good news. Small number of data points, but good news.

Now let's look at the entire world. The same thing: the percent change in daily deaths day over day.

March 17 over March 16: +25%

March 18 over March 17: +21%

March 19 over March 18: +11%

Again, small number of data points. But also again, we see the slowing of the increase in daily deaths. I believe this is unassailably good news. Assuming the data are correct.

P's data on Iran points in the same direction, using different methodology.

Points:

If the big three continue to improve, we will see a curve form and the numbers will start declining.

Since we've seen that curve form already in China, SK, Japan, that it forms in Italy, Spain, Iran would be something of a confirmation.

And maybe scientists could then extrapolate when/if we are on the same curve and recommend policy based on that.

So the key will be to see if the numbers from those three countries continue to improve. It's only three days so far.

The other side point is the media...when will they be brave enough to start publishing 'green shoots' type stories? (assuming that the data continue to improve).

I am not comparing it to anything from 1918. The swine flu was in 2009. ALL of my facts are correct. Point out ONE that is not. Good luck on that!

and saying you really don't care about numbers should embarrass you. It tells something about the animus against me here.

So basically Trump himself saved 100s or 1000s of Americans if not more. Would the Libs ever give him credit for the quick action on this? Of course not. They are not objective or fair-minded. They are consumed with hatred of Trump.

I didn’t pigeonhole you in anyway.

I stated how people will react to your numbers.

And that’s why I said I didn’t care for your numbers.

Because people will choose whichever numbers reinforces their predisposition.

In my case it wasn’t something against you.

It was more something against being laser focused on one area when there is something bigger around the corner.

I don’t have a strong opinion on decisions that have been made because they have been very difficult decisions all around.

It’s easy to look back and blame people.

I am keeping my eyes open about the upcoming decisions.

You’ll never have the right numbers because you can never know what would have happened if other decisions had been made.

Trump imported hundreds of virus carries to the U.S. and set them free to infect other Americans.

BTW: Those saved people were living and working in China. By leaving their employer they lost access to their healthcare. If they stayed in China they would have be covered, and cared for. In the U.S. they were required to be quarantined at their own expense. PLUS healthcare workers were sent to help evacuate people and were not provided with protective gear.

So, you are talking of the 2009 H1N1 flu and not the 1918 H1N1. Well, that is even dumber as the 2009 had a mortality rate of 0.02-0.03% depending on the source you look at. That pandemic is over, so we know how bad it was. The current pandemic is not over, it has a much higher death rate and a higher infection rate. We are past the point of trying to contain it. We are hoping only to slow it so that hospitals can keep up. It is much more concerning than the flu from 2009 because of the much higher death rate and higher infection rate. This is why things are closed. It is not an over reaction. It is not comparable to the 2009 flu. You are minimizing it without being a medical person and without a clear understanding of what we are facing. Right now, it is expected that about 70% of Americans will contract this virus. The state of California has a math model that projects 56% of its population will have it within 8 weeks. 70% of ~327 million is 228,900,000. If the death rate is at the low end of the projected 1-3% when this is all over, then we are talking about 2.29 million Americans dying of this virus.

It is a ridiculous argument to compare a pandemic that is over to one that is still ongoing and, in the case of the United States, one that has been slow to test so that we don't have accurate infection numbers.

You are in way over your head on this.

WTF is wrong with you? A thinking reasoning person knows that what you just said is BS. You seemed to have seen the light earlier when you finally admitted Trump has dropped the ball on this. Apparently, if you still think he did, you don't properly understand how he dropped the ball. Trump has done nothing helpful regarding this virus. How many of us have to tell you that you are an idiot before you take the time to actually consider the truthfulness of that? You do not have the capacity to understand this situation.
