I have been less active of late, but with some reading of the last several pages, it appears agip, that you and Sally might not exactly had had a brain swap, but that there has been some cross pollination going on there. That's good news for Sally but not really for you.

Fat Hurts correctly explained how Trump's response was not based on science and thus next to completely ineffective. Don't go down the path of thinking that Trump did anything good, ESPECIALLY early on, with regard to this virus. Piss poor leadership from him.

Horrendous leadership and virtually no preparation to help ensure we get hit with a slow flood and not a tsunami. I’m sympathetic to an overall statistical view and maintain this is going to be seen down the road as a relatively weak pandemic (from a death rate perspective). When you look at the disruption factor though this ranks up there with war and global financial collapses.. perhaps even higher. A few hundred thousand deaths globally would not be surprising when/if the dust settles, and on a global scale that is a tiny number, whether there is tolerance for it or not. Still, what it’s clearly showing is how exposed and helpless the world is to these pandemics. We might be going into a new world order accepting CV as a new seasonal epidemic until a vaccine is developed.

Yesterday it was military hospital ships (that won’t be ready for weeks), today it’s Carnival ships (ready, but without supplies). Trump keeps wimping out over emergency measures.

He’s insane.

The Worldometer has Germany with only 43 deaths for 14,544 cases. That's very odd. It's possible that Germany has a milder strain. Or a younger population. Part of it appears to be that their case load shot up dramatically in the last few days so it could be that many have just not gotten sick enough to die yet.

I'm of the opinion that anyone who tries to make sense of these numbers is just playing games. That goes for me, agip, P, and even the experts. I think those experts will be the first to tell you that there is just too much we don't know yet.

President Trump announced Thursday that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is making experimental drugs -- including those used for treating malaria -- available as part of the ongoing effort to tackle the spread of the coronavirus.

Trump announced at a White House press briefing that chloroquine, a drug designed for use in malaria, has been FDA approved and will be made available by prescription "almost immediately." He said it was one of a number of antiviral therapies to limit the symptoms of the virus that the administration is trying to get to Americans as quickly as possible.

“I have directed the FDA to eliminate rules and bureaucracy so work can proceed rapidly, quickly and fast,” he said. "We have to remove every barrier.”

Addressing potential safety concerns, Trump noted that it had been used previously in treating malaria, “so we know if things don't go as planned, it’s not going to kill anybody.” He said it had shown "very encouraging" early results.

He also said another drug, remdesivir, would be made available to Americans as well by the process of "compassionate use." He said it would remain to be seen whether it would help combat the crisis.

If you have no idea what numbers would make you think that there are some good numbers coming out of those three countries...then this is more about you than it is about me.

This is the second day in a row you have claimed that Italy's growth rate is slowing, but it jumped up another 5,000 cases and 400 deaths today. Where are you getting your numbers from? Is it possible that your source is not updating numbers in real time, but only a couple times each day?

A drug that has been around for some time and in previous tests has shown no benefits in treating viruses in humans. Trump is desperate.

Nor will it be "immediately available", as he claims, but will need go through months of trials. This is the "leader" who ignored the advice he received over a year ago about the need to prepare for a possible pandemic in America (NY Times today).

Trump needs a Drug Czar. He needs to take himself out of the equation. I will say this again, he just looks disinterested. Pathetic. You may hate Rudy G. but he would make a good Czar. Chuck Schumer, who I despise, actually looked pretty impressive this morning. Trump NEEDS to make someone the Czar very soon to handle this crisis.

Trump needs to resign. Pence also needs to resign. That way Trumpers can blame President Pelosi for not fixing Trump's mess before the November elections.

I agree that the data might not be good.

I read that one reason germany has a low death count is that they don't test post-mortem for the disease. So they could be having deaths of 85 year old people and blaming old age when it's really the disease. I'm not sure if that's true or how other nations handle that problem.
