I'm using numbers. I highlight what the numbers show. The numbers clearly show that there are signs that this thing is slowing in Iran, Italy., Spain. Just like the numbers showed that this thing is slowed to a stop in China, SK, Japan. Not every day or every number. But the trends. I will not apologize for using numbers.
That said, it's true that I made some mistakes in interpreting these numbers and I will do that again, I'm sure.
If you would prefer not to look at numbers but to use emotion and the need to go along with the conventional wisdom, that is your right and I wont' comment on it. But I refuse to stop looking at these numbers in their face.

And you think the health experts and policy experts are not aware of the numbers? You draw inferences from the "numbers on their face" without any informed knowledge of the complex issues they refer to. Statistics can be helpful, indicative or misleading - but, above all, require experts to properly interpret them. You are not that kind of expert. Your focusing on only one part of the picture means you don't see the whole or understand it. Because you are not a health expert - an epidemiologist - your starting position in analyzing the figures is based on your ignorance of what the health experts would know. If your analysis is not supported by what they are saying you are merely proving your ignorance - and demonstrating the arrogance of the amateur who thinks he knows better. Like some others here, I could use a blunter description for that.
