Ben Fenton with absolutely no idea whatsoever what LT1 is when posting on Strava. This is what also got him confused pre London and why he fell apart.
Scary guys like this pass on absolutely duff information to a wide amount of followers. Basically did a NSM classic workout and thinks he's cruising along at LT1 and 180bpm. Farcical.
What's his max HR? His workout doesn't seem that far off where it should be for LT1 as far as I can see
yeah I know it's trendy to take the piss out of him on this thread but he's running at about 3:26 per km on a treadmill which is a hair slower than his marathon pace of 3:24. Might be slightly over LT1 strictly but its just unfair to say that he's racing his workout here.

Fenton is the ultimate workout warrior, thats why me and my Battersea Puresport dribblers squad have a pic of him in a speedsuits as our watsapp screen savers
Jesus Christ is Lord and His Name needs to be revered, not used in vain like you did. Remember, He is royalty and died for you regardless if you believe so or not. Do better next time.

HR is always going to be inflated in a sweaty gym setting as well vs the same workout outside. I honestly think it's fine. It's probably a harder workout than people doing NSA would want to be doing but he's not doing NSA so it's irrelevant, it is still LT1

Trendy? Fenton is the crusher of dreams. How many skinny young runners out there dream that if they get fast enough, maybe, just maybe, they can get the hot girl? Then you have Fenton who is internet famous, gets to run for a living, and is running respectable times…. who then puts his girlfriend on his videos… crushing all those dreams with a huge reality slap to the face. Running is not the path to getting the hot girl?! Ugh. And then he tries to sell me crap? There’s a place in hell reserved for Fenton.
That video was painful “we’re all in blue”, is it cute to pretend you’ve brain damage? The people commenting are girls who also want to build the influencer following, it’s like some MLM stuff where they just fake compliment to get noticed in a hope someone else sees their account. Sometimes it seems influencers have it great but the relief of having a real job where you don’t have to act the fool when you see this content.
Not sure are you being sarcastic or not. What you should infer is the next marathon, not necessarily the next big race.
But yes Im actually not sure if they have the patience required to get it right.
she really needs to get to work on her 10km and half times, her half is mediocer and you will not get faster than a 2:25 marathon until you can run well under 70mins
she could also do with another summer of track and her wasted marathon blocks will have taken away alot of her previous pace.
surely she cant afford to wait til autumn to have a go but there isnt alot on offer in spring, maybe Boston or some rogue American time trial race? she definitely wont do london after her pointless trundle round this year
Berlin half is March , Manchester in May ....and lots of other decent 10k, 10 mile tune ups where fast could be worked on.
It really hinges in if she's prepared to play the long game.
Not sure why waiting until September for a marathon is a problem. It's the sensible thing here. Build mileage to adapt properly and not get stress injuries again. Work on speed next , the a Berlin A race.

Each to their own but that's what I'd suggest.
A real "pro" runner, who makes their living from running and not YouTube/scamming people for coaching would wait. They'd be sensible but there is a strange dynamic about these YouTubers and their need for constant "content".
Without the marathon narrative what is Bowden? The kind of fans she attracts don't care about HM or 10 miles, it's all about marathon. She can't charge people £100 a month as coach with the handle "70 min HM at Manchester" - her entire career is hanging by a thread here.
People on this thread love to talk about income of £250k a year for Bowden, and yes, that might be true but where is she in 3/5 years? She won't be able to continue pumping out content when she is 35 because she won't be running then. She won't be a Broom style masters runners. How can she charge £100 for coaching off the back of 1 good marathon and no social media presence? I can imagine the panic in that household is real.

ben fenton makes boring videos but this post is really pathetic stuff. dismal. if you're young then you'll look back at this version of yourself ashamed; if you're over 25 then you need to grow up sharpish.

I was listening to a podcast with his coach recently (it was Matt Fox, please don't kill me!!)
His coach is a quick 10k guy but had never run a marathon. Serious question why would you get coached by someone who had never experienced the event.
Nice, a youtube thread! I watch a lot of youtubers so this sounds like a good place do discuss our favourite channels. A guy I've been watching a lot lately is Donato, aka poetwithpace. He's a talented masters runner who has a Guinness world record to his name. The thing I like best about his channel is that he's not like all these running influencers you get now with their scripts and fancy packaging and all that jazz, and instead tells it like it is and ad libs. Check out his latest controversial video about Garmin.
but i get your point. his coach has "no show" for it yet but maybe he can work it out.
on another point i wanna say most of these youtubers take themselves waaay too serious.
in the 80s if u were a 2.25 marathoner in the UK you were considered a decent CLUB runner. so lets have some reality check. 2.25 today is like 2.35 (or even 2.40) back in the day given that the top elites now run sub 2.05.
what im tryin to say is that given the time we are livin in, a 2.25 marathon is not thaaat impressive.
i have my creds to back it up if someone takes personal shots at me. sayonara.

Yeah so 2:25 would have damn near won the Dallas Marathon this past weekend. That time would make the podium. This is an event with almost 20,000 participants.
Sure it's not elite or whatever, but it's still pretty damn good. What are your qualifications?
