The idea, philosophies, goals, purposes and naive, wishful thinking of appeasement of brutal thugs and their regimes is same today as it was in the past. Doesn't matter if it's Hitler or Putin, or people like you or Neville Chamberlain. Appeasement is a flawed philosophy in any decade.
Not bank rolling a war is NOT "appeasement".
Yes. Yes, it is when it comes to America and the free world's number one enemy. There would have serious consequences if the US, NATO and a dozen other countries had adopted your appeasement policy with respect to Russia. History has shown us that appeasement of scumbags has huge costs.
Can you (and the TX guy) please try to learn the difference between "you're" and "your"?
Thanks in advance.
You're confused.
Oh really?
TheAdultInTheRoom: "You're position is that Putin is a family man with his kid's future in the forefront of his mind whenever he makes decisions and you're making fun of other people's takes... LOL!"
You should really study history for at least 20 minutes before you start preaching... you sound like a moron.
Not bank rolling a war is NOT "appeasement".
While you're at it, maybe you could start working on the difference between "bankrolling" and "bank rolling" (LOL).
Literacy is not a priority for these appeaser types. They value things like umbrella folding, tea and crumpets, and hating America, more than they value English and coherent thought.
If he doesn't save face in Ukraine he will be killed.
Do you not understand who Putin is?
You don't brutalize your opposition and murder people every other day and retire to the Keys.
You're naive.
Neville Chamberlain would be amazed at your commitment to bind yourself into appeasement through motivated reasoning.
The alleged Adult is more isolationist than appeaser. His posts are in the spirit of allowing Russia to take Ukraine than to actively trade Ukraine for "peace".
A better comparison than Chamberlain might be Senator Gerald Nye or one of the other 1930s era isolationist movement leaders now largely relegated to the dustbin of history.
The problem then, and even more so now, is that the fortunes of nations are interconnected and denying the realities of globalism doesn't make them go away.

China is the free world's #1 enemy. You are the most ignorant person on this forum which is really saying something.
Ukraine is completely and utterly unimportant to the USA.
We can condemn the aggression without paying for the entire defense.
The EU which is directly impacted and will be burning their furniture to keep warm this winter isn't paying for d*ck while we pay for everything.
In what diseased universe is supporting that pro-American?

You literally spent time searching for a typo to complain about it on the internet.

How is Russia a globalist power? They have no Navy. They have no allies. Their economy is like 1/10th the size of Americas.
America is the ONLY reason globalism exists.
If America decided to end globalism today globalism will be over today.

It's already been pointed out that, amongst other things, Ukraine supplies more than half of the world's neon, which is critical for semiconductor manufacturing. Just because you're ignorant, does not mean Ukraine is "utterly unimportant to the USA".

Put down your little spelling handbook for a moment and explain how caring more about America than Ukraine is "hating America".
You are a fool. You've been told to cheer for Ukraine and you just can't help yourself.

Neon isn't a plant that only grows in Ukraine.
We've spent tens of BILLIONS in Ukraine.
We could produce neon cheaper and more efficiently than Ukraine does for decades with that money.
Is it our moral duty to pay for Ukraine's war or are we just their for the resources?

We've spent tens of billions of dollars on US weapons built by US workers employed by US companies in the US of A. And your argument is that we should spend those tens of billions of dollars to subsidize the US neon production industry instead?

So you're saying our goal in the war is to make money for the weapons manufacturers which are all already fleecing the US government with obscene contracts and poisoning politics with their lobbyists?
I bet there's way to make money without killing people.
Helping a fledgling democracy and dismantling an autocracy is good for the world, which is good for the US.
If you disagree with the US funding Ukraine, you have only yourself to blame. You’re strategy of seeking political change by venting your displeasure on a running isn’t going to change a thing.

No, the goal of the war is to prevent an authoritarian a**hole from setting the precedent that invading neighboring countries and annexing their land as part of some imperialistic empire building is unacceptable in the modern world. This behavior should be discourage at all cost. You're the one making an economic argument and I was just pointing out that your argument about spending billions of dollars on Ukraine is entirely disingenuous - as the money is being spent in the US.
Of course there are way to make money without killing people. I don't think anybody ever suggested that was the only way to make money. It is necessary to kill Russians to dissuade Russian aggression, and as Ukraine has demonstrated, US weapons are particularly good for doing so.

1) You've apparently conceded the "isolationist" label by ignoring the main point of the post.
2) Globalism is a result of unequally distribution of labor and resources and the ability for them to be traded across national borders. That is, it follows from fundamental economic principles.

Ukraine isn't a democracy any more than Russia is a democracy.
The current president has made a lot of money off of corruption in Ukraine. I'm not naive enough to think he will turn off the gravy train.

I agree. Imperialistic empire building is unacceptable.
Why is it the US's job to pay for it? Europe's economy is the same size as ours. We have spent TRILLIONS babysitting Europe for over a century.
I think Europe should put on their big boy pants and deal with this problem.
We are currently giving more than 3x as much as the EU.
We can condemn the aggression without paying for the entire defense.
The EU which is directly impacted and will be burning their furniture to keep warm this winter isn't paying for d*ck while we pay for everything.
How can you be so utterly ignorant about a topic you post on incessantly? While the US has given a lot to Ukraine, so have many of its European allies. See the list here for example. Lots of German and French 155mm artillery and German MRLS.
Weirdly, "Adult" rails against people who oppose Russia online but don't go fight in Ukraine themselves, but proposes that the proper response is for the U.S. to condemn Russian aggression without doing a damn thing about it. All talk, no action, is his preferred response to Russians killing, raping, and kidnapping children. His overriding concern is for no one to do anything useful to oppose Russia.
