D3 XC 2010

Another thing. Cal and Penn State were the last 2 at D1, here is what their top 7 look like

Cal:

Coe about 13:48, 7:54 3k

Karlsson about 14:01, 29:31 track 10k

Jarvis about 8:14 3k, 8:53 hs 2 miler

Schmidt about 9:03 steeple, 9:07 hs 2 miler

Cheeve ?

Sodarno about 3:46 1500

Schmidt about 9:27 steeple

Penn State

Dawson about 14:02 5k

McNally about 8:07 3k, 14:07 5k

Dawson about 1:47/3:45 1500

Pawola about 14:19

Cipro about 14:23

Some people run better in cross than track, but even so, wishful thinking puts Hullenberg/Carpenter at the #3 at best of the last 2 teams at D1 nats. Again, Haverford is a great D3 team and had a tremendous season, but a top 30 D1 team they are not.

Yeah, I think tom is the best but there is no way they are mAking up :56/man on uva in 7 weeks. That is a huge gap. I think he's a way better coach t Jan vig.

Apparently no one wants to listen to this guy. He's right. Add at least a minute to their average just due to conditions and the different course. Probably add more because they would be at the back of the pack. They wouldn't get last, but there's always someone that has a worse race.

Would someone please explain to me how conditions were so much worse in Terre Haute than in Waverly?

I was at both and the wind was much worse at D1.

I was curious so I added up the top 7 individuals from each region for team scores, added up all 7 though:

Atlantic - 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 18 = 63

Midwest - 3, 7, 9, 14, 15, 22, 24 = 94

Mideast - 1, 11, 13, 19, 21, 31, 34 = 130

Great Lakes - 16, 20, 29, 38, 59, 68, 72 = 302

New England - 41, 48, 51, 64, 70, 71, 78 = 423

Central - 2, 23, 52, 90, 103, 104, 126 = 500

West - 17, 56, 66, 86, 110, 131, 132 = 598

South - 58, 63, 101, 102, 122, 166, 202 = 814

Interesting way of ranking the regions - since we were debating that a lot.

I'm not going to take out individuals, but another way is seeing where the regions would have ranked roughly if they were a team. Obviously, the Atlantic, Midwest, and Mideast would have won pretty handily.

The Great Lakes would have had 162 points through 5 runners and been either 3rd or 4th (depending on how many individuals were taken out.

New England had 274 and would have been around 6th or 7th

Central had 270 and also would have been around 6th or 7th

West had 335 and would have been around 10th or 11th

South had 446 and would have been around 15th to 17th as a team.
