awesome post! I love it hahaha
Who's running where this weekend? Any good matchups?
New national rankings out. Not much change in the AR teams. The only big change was Williams dropping from 4th to 13th after what looks like an off day at All-New Englands. Kosgey 24:40s, then a 25:20s for their second, 25:50s for their third, and two over 26 (:09 and :20). Really not a very strong performance by their 3-5 on a pretty fast course at Franklin Park in Boston. I don't know their team well enough to know if they sat anyone out. Makes sense that they would drop in the rankings, and they probably would have dropped more if they didn't have a strong history.
Also not much change in the women's rankings. Washington U dropped a fair amount.

All the rankings are at the bottom of the page.
why would NYU drop in the rankings?
Mostly because no one knows how to rank them. NYU doesnt spend its whole season racing the teams in the Atlantic region just to impress the 12 upstate coaches who vote on this poll. Zach Maher finally raced and was their first man, yet still no respect. Looks like NYU is going to Oberlin this week so we will see how they stack up against Alleghany, Carnegie and Ohio Northern, all ranked teams.

well i'm not sure if NYUs race at metros was too good for their rankings. it was on a slow vcp course but it seems they had an off day. 5-7 were above 27. turlip who should be their #2 or #3 was their #5 and lee who was their #1 at williams was #3. i don't know it just looks like their squad jumbled up a bit and some had worse days than others who knows what they'll do at oberlin but i doubt they'll surpass the top 3 AR teams

they aren't good.
I hope Plattsburgh isn't getting their hopes up because they are in no way the 25th best team in the country. Only one man from that team will be running at Nationals.
That sounds awful similar to Fredonia's situation.
That Navaro kid will be the only Fredonia runner at nationals.
I dont see the part where fredonia is nationaly ranked. They're not even ranked in the region. They have no reason for false hopes.

who are the teams that are better? YOU ARE IN THE KNOW AREN'T YOU, IF YOU WERE SO IN THE KNOW YOU WOULD KNOW THAT KNOWING IS NOT AS GOOD AS KNOWING "FO SHO." SEND YO ASS BACK TO DJIBOUTI.

Cortland
Geneseo
NYU
SLU
RIT
UR
Not necessarily in that order. Weak 5th man is going to kill them at Letchworth.
Wasn't this the argument against them last year as well? And now this team has a much better top 4 and a better 5th man and the weak 5th man still holds them out? Looks to me like you are all Plattsburgh haters. Is it just me who can see them peaking well again and beating SLU and NYU?
What's with the serious hate Plattsburgh has for Fredonia? That was a stinger.
Anyways to the quoted post, I really can't see them beating NYU, but after seeing the Paul Short results taking down St. Lawrence seems within their sights although SLU's performance there reflects pretty poorly on the previous meets they've run. But who knows, maybe SLU will return to their pre-2008 tradition of crashing and burning later in the season.
RIT and URochester could really make a run for the 5 spot and unless Williams gets back under (or at least close to ) 26 minutes Fredonia is out of the picture. TCNJ looks weak (fo a TCNJ team). I can't make up my mind on Ithaca yet and Hamilton's pack would have to make some serious leaps. That's my take on battle for the 5 spot I suppose.
Anyways, go Paltz
Looking at the regional schedules I am surprised nobody has mentioned this clash with all the Plattsburgh talk...
PLATTSBURGH versus RIT at ALBANY
Fast course, cool dry weather, good competition, should be a throw down.
no throw down will occur. After the race about 20 anonymous posters will come on here talking about how RIT was just practicing pack running/ playing grab ass during the race. Then 20 more will come on and talk about how Plattsburgh was wearing heart rate monitors and using it as a workout, all the while systematically having their 5th man ingest bottles of heymanns sweat during the race to see if it helps him close the gap.
I sincerely doubt the Platt and RIT will puss out. Albany is a very fast meet, there will be lots of fast folks in the race, and it will be interesting to see how they stack up. SUNYAC and NYSCTC are the same weekend this eyar, aren't they? Good opportunity for a tune-up beforehand.
