Never thought I'd live to see the day of Almgren getting a global medal, what a performance
Sucks to know that he had a real chance at getting the gold, but a last lap sprint doesn't play into his strengths but he still held on incredibly well
I have a slight dislike of Fisher as I find him a boring racer and this just confirms my bias thankfully. Really does nothing gutsy, just sits and waits or time trials
Thought Grant's Stanford mind had evaluated the cost benefit scenario of getting a cup of water to extra distance run and deemed it unsatisfactory. Seems not
the stronger guys HAD TO MAKE A MOVE AT K MARK OR EARLIER BECAUSE THEY CANNOT HANG WITH THOSE SPRINTERS
mike scannell gonna be pissed he said Grant was a strength runner and would run like it and that did not happen even if grant didn't medal in that scenario he was never going to medal in a super slow race with a last lap burnout and maybe a different US runner could've medaled
I bit my tongue in that thread and didn't say what i was thinking. which is that GRANT FISHER DOES NOT dictate what happens in any world championship race. Scannel talking about his "strategy" is laughable. He's a follower. If he couldn't change his stripes today, it's never gonna happen.
Happy for Almgren. Been close so many times. Has been putting in the work like no one else for more than a decade.
My hot take on Grant: It’s not that he didn’t have a kick. He was fading. He didn’t have the fitness to bring the kick this go-around. Backed too far off the aerobic fitness going into this meet, which he telegraphed in interviews going into this meet.
