I got wind that UCLA is planning to cut the men's cross country team for this fall. Apparently, the women's cross country team is safe for now, but honestly, this news doesn't shock me.

I just found out the same news. I'm guessing they'll inform the athletes just before the 4th of July weekend. Or have they been told already ? Although most probably already knew. Joanna Hayes has destroyed the distance portion at UCLA in record speed. She was there for a few months and only ran two men at the regional meet regardless of having a full men’s team. I have a feeling she will enjoy delivering the news about cutting men’s cross country.
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Nathan Petesch, the 2024 USTFCCCA Division III Men's Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year and a member of eight NCAA Division III national championship
As a long time D3 enthusiast, anyone can be a good coach at UWL.
All props to what they've done there, but.
He's taking over a full rebuild at a school that does not have distance tradition. the next 5 years will tell how good of a college coach he really is.
Also depends on how many throws the athlete can score in. XC kid that can do three sports arms score across 2-3 events far out ways cost to benefit compared to a specialized thrower. Also might depend on if AD places an emphasis on track or XC.
as always, if you’re not in the huddle, you don’t know the plays. Very easy to criticize from the outside.
If the investment is in XC, wouldn’t holding throws accountable for scoring be slightly unrealistic? Again, ROI needs to be at the forefront.
We don’t need to be in the huddle to read the offense. It is clear that PSU’s investment is in middle/long distance.
