Heard sion has been contacted for throws at GA, might want to move back to Atlanta
my big question is why would Babbit go out and sign all these kids this year just to leave and give it, again, to Zeb to reap the rewards.
She's the 3rd distance coach, relax. She will be doing administrative work like mailing recruiting letters and filling up the water jug at practice. Every coach at one point was given an opportunity with no previous coaching experience. She may even be part time.
That’s seems like a waste of a position then. Is this team not trying to be good?
Nope, not young, a current D1 coach... she is an assistant, she is not running the program and if you had any idea how hard fining a qualified women to coach you would possibly make me think you are also a coach.
This is great for her, they are taking a chance on someone that they think will help THEIR team and now in 4 years when she gets another job you people won’t have to whine about it because she will be an experienced coach.
Volunteer Coach to Associate Head. Wow. Nicely done.
I thought Babbit was out with petros. Don't know if he'll be able to stay at UGA

Looks like Caryl and Petros will just swap jobs. The question becomes, "What will their staffs look like?"
Anyone who knows how the hiring process works at USC and Georgia would laugh at this stupid rumor! It is true that Georgia is trying to get Carol to leave USC and move to Athens. The former USC assistant AD that hired Carol is now at Georgia. He is trying to lure her over to Athens. And she will likely get a contract extension from USC out of this whole deal.

Which is worse, going from athlete to third assistant coach with no experience (Lipscomb), or going from two years of assistant coaching to associate head coach (Montana to UAB)?
Either way, wrong or right, ok or not, you can debate all that, but no men get opportunities like this at the NCAA I level. At the NCAA I level you never hear of a guy getting a paid assistant gig with zero coaching experience and you never hear of a guy assistant coach with limited experience getting an associate head coaching position. But this is fairly common for women.
This is also a reason why female coaches have problems. They are put into positions they are not ready for.
Is Jordan Burkholder of Iowa Central looking to move up?

But hey I think we need to let these things play out. It may not be of much effect at lipscomb, but let’s see how UAB goes. You still gotta put the work in recruiting and developing the team so let’s see how UAB does in the coming year or two. It doesn’t take long to make an impact, especially in the C-USA. look how quickly Lynn has turned Charlotte into a dominant team in their conference, the WKU coach has completely revamped a struggling bottom feeder team into contenders. So let’s give Lowry her time.
Spalding University in Louisville, KY is hiring a part-time assistant for XC/TF. Mostly just helping out at practices and meets with minimal recruiting responsibilities. Perfect for someone looking to get a foot in the door in the coaching world. Apply at the link below or contact Logan Wells at

I agree, many of these hires are brought in over their heads. I have seen a number of similar XC hires in my conference over the last decade. 4/5 times the schools struggles and the young coach gets frustrated pretty quickly. They usually leave the career field.
Every once and awhile, about 1 in 5, the young coach has success, has a hit with one or two athletes, and then is picked up by a better resourced program very quickly. Either way, it never works out for the institution.
Maybe I don't mind as much as I should. The programs that hire in this way virtually assure that even on my team's worst years we are still in the top half of the conference.
Sounds to me that if they want to make a change at Seattle University, their administration needs to: let go of Kelly Sullivan AND all his assistants; keep him & give him additional resources; or just straight up cut the program.
That school should really be competing at Division II. No way in hell will their basketball program get to the level it once did when Elgin Baylor played for them, and without a decent basketball program, good luck with funding for the other sports.
To the other poster: what specifically were Sullivan's issues at Oregon State?

Seattle U is NCAA Division I. Granted, it has been NAIA, NCAA I, II and III at various points during the past 20-ish years, but right now and for now it is NCAA I.
