I like multiple sources to substantiate whichever claims are stated in the original source. The NY Times is as liberal and biased as any news sources comes but they have the best journalists and reporters in the country.

This could devastate Houston's energy business as it did back in 1991. Crude at $31? Crude needs to be at about $40 or even $50 for energy firms to make a profit. $31? Devastating.

Trump's market manipulation over the last few years and pressure on the Saudis to pump more has had a lot to do with the devastation we're seeing. This didn't happen overnight. He has wrecked domestic shale and the broader energy sector. Shale needed higher oil prices and trump has ensured they stay low. Sure, shale is responsible for pumping too much but the dear leader was only too supported of the drill, drill, drill mentality.
