For all those that say that the Trump admin is making the wrong moves re: Coronavirus, what would your detailed plan be. Not a general “more needs to be done,” no just pointing out what individual decisions he has made that were wrong and nothing about what idiotic things he has said.
Give a comprehensive action plan that is within the POTUS’s power. Some of you are long-winded and are capable of this. (jesseriley, you might as well sit this one out)
1. Messaging - he did not communicate urgency and concern on this issue. There are times when a leader has to sound reassuring without undermining the seriousness of a problem. He has done neither.
2. He had several weeks of lead time to put together and announce a team of people qualified to lead the effort to combat CV in the US. He not only sat on the issue, he mocked it and floated lies about it. He only decided to take action when it began to impact the stock market. When he finally got around to it, he put the wrong people in charge. Pence, for so many reasons, is not the right person for this job. His record on combating health issues is horrendous and clearly he is not interested.
3. Instead of leading the effort to get emergency funding approved, he fought it. We could have been stocked with many more test kits and critical supplies by now if action had been taken sooner.
4. When you don't know what you are talking about, it's best to leave it to the experts. He not only refuses to get out of their way, he is actively undermining them when they tell the truth. No Don, go eat another burger, a vaccine is not coming in weeks, it's going to take many months if not more than a year.
So the decision not to prepare the public, the decision not to put a team in place sooner, the decision not to obtain funding sooner, and the current daily decision to undermine the experts and continue pretending CV isn't a big deal... Shall I add more?
