This departure had been planned for a year. It was no surprise. What was a surprise to Americans was how little the Afghanistan government cared to see the American experiment in country building succeed. They had plenty of time to plan their exodus and they they abandoned their country. They just didn't care and they are probably reflecting what most of the country felt. They are responsible.
This policy has been a 20 year failure perpetuated by Bush and Obama (not Trump or Biden). Lets put to rest the idea of the liberal mainstream media running PR for Biden. That is far right fantasy used to protect Trump when he was exposed. They are not at all like fox. The media will always embellish any crisis because that what they do. They have been tough on Biden.
I saw pictures of Afghanistan girls walking to school after the take over. They were chatting and seemed relaxed. I see repeated media pictures of scared Afghanistan people around that airplane.. But how many Americans and innocent civilians have actually died in this take over?
Zero Americans and so far I have heard of no civilians killed. After the take over and we are gone it could change, but its not our government its theirs. Biden will take his political hit now to clean up after Bush and Obama.
But politically, a year from now he will have the political advantage from this. But that is not why he did it. He is pulling those troops because it is in America's best interest. He does things now that will pay off in the future for the country.
Thats what separates Biden from other presidents, he will make tough decisions that others are afraid to make.
My respect for Biden has increased and his speech explained his reasoning very effectively. Despite what the media emphasized, this move was not sprung on the people there.
Biden is the man that after 20years will get us out.
I agree with everything except Obama also perpetuated the failure??? This war was going to be a failure from day 1, no matter what we did with that $1T. Obama actually at least accomplished one of the primary objectives which was to eliminate Bin Laden. This was a Bush war, period. The other presidents of course are at fault for not ending it.
I was not surprised to see the media go into total meltdown mode and starting to even make $hit up out of thin air to fill their headline machines. This totally blew away the insane claim that the media loves Biden. They absolutely ripped him apart over the last several days, and most of them were simply jumping the gun because they cannot stand being starved of potentially juicy material. Some insane aholes out there even claimed this is the worst disaster in US history, LOLz. And of course some chuds here fell for it so hard they couldn’t see straight.
So far the only dramatic thing we have seen is the plane on the runway packed with civilians hanging on. Of course if you look closely you’ll see many of them running and laughing next to the plane. And if you actually paid attention to non-US news, you’d have learned that citizens of Kabul received misleading information that anyone who wanted to take a flight out could simply show up to the airport and get help. That mess is owned by the failed Afghan government, period. And of course the airport has been under control ever since and evacuation efforts continue.
Wake me up when some American is left behind and is prevented from leaving by the Taliban in the next few days. Now I guarantee you there will be some fools who decide to take their time and we later find out never left and it’s too late. That won’t be anyone else’s fault.
Also, remind me how many more Americans have been killed so far in the Afghanistan exodus than in Jan 6. The trump loving insurrectionists and cowardly anti vax GQP leadership share the prize of chasing the worst catastrophes of 2021.
Thank you Badass Biden for ending this war.
