But more seriously, of course the dems need a woman on the ticket, and they need a person of color. She would help get the white suburban women and black voters to vote.

And she is normal. She is a competent, accomplished person who can do a job. She's qualified to be president if Joe falls over dead.

Just seems a good combo of all things the Dems need to put together to beat trump.

Normally, the VP has no affect on the election, but running with a 77-year it could make a difference this time. Quayle didn't seem to hurt Bush, so Palin might be the only one that cost someone the presidency.

Consensus is she was a very shrewd tactician. While Bill was president, she worked very hard to consolidate power around them, and aggressively. She was not liked by her campaign management and was seen as out of touch. And then there was the DNC debacle with her being given the debate questions in advance. She had too much influence.

Palin didn't cost McCain that election. He was not going to win. Running with the economy exploding and your party in the White House was always going to be too high a hill to climb.

not qualified. Hasn't had an important enough job.

I think a lot of people would question Joe's judgment if he puts an unqualified person one heartbeat from the oval office, given his age.

Harris would be a great VP candidate. But I think having her as Attorney General would help heal the disaster Trump and Barr have made of the department. She can go after Trump and retroactively void his fake absolute immunity. All misdeed would be under scrutiny except those actually tied to an real government policy.

Stacey needs some experience. Her best spot would be on the Cabinet in charge of HUD or Education. She is a very likable person and a great morale booster. And people working in those departments would rally around her to fix the mess Trump has made of them.

a) Yes, the whole native american thing. Let's not re-litigate it, but there are aspects of that story that were a little troubling (yes, making it appear that she was trying to take advantage of some "double-minority" ["women of color"] status she didn't really hold), the plagiarized cookbook, etc. Bottom line, Native Americans still til this day are still unhappy with her about this.

c) The whole I'm for Medicare for All, but when you ask me how if I'll have to raise taxes on the middle class to do this....I'll 100% dodge, ignore, and not answer. She doesn't have enough star power yet, not popular enough.. and hate to say it but it might not play well with white suburban women. Biden already has the AA vote, what is the cost-benefit of having an AA woman on the ticket?

Good points. Would an AA on the ticket guarantee him a landslide AA vote (better turnout, etc), or does he pretty much already have that and just needs to target white working class and suburban voters?

Bottom line, with his age and occasional "mental lapses", he needs someone fairly young but also experienced, who people feel could step right in if needed, and/or be ready to lead the ticket in 4 years if necessary. Abrams too inexperienced.

Just two weeks ago, the market hit all-time highs as Senator Bernie Sanders became the front-runner. This morning, it is bouncing because Biden has taken the lead.

What's changed? The market view is that the coronavirus has hobbled President Donald Trump. Wall Street still wants Trump to win, but if a Democrat is going to be the next president, Wall Street could live with Biden.

Sanders has taken a much harder line on regulating Wall Street, taxing the rich, rolling back corporate tax cuts and remaking the economy with expensive health care and education plans. Biden -- longtime senator from a state that is home to credit card companies -- is seen as more moderate, a steady hand ready to work across the aisle.

Kamala Harris didn't do a good job of getting women and black voters in general to support her as a candidate.

I still do like her as a VP choice, but I agree that she'd be good as Attorney General in the post election Trump probe to lock him up.

Biden is selecting the 47th president, so he has to be wise with that decision.
