Has she subsequently deleted the video? What a clown
Reposted with a new title…
This is a classic example of Phily’s warped worldview.
She and Daniel likely made the video well before, with the intention of releasing it on Valencia Marathon day. I imagine they did this because they predicted Jake's mantra of “train harder, not smarter” would trend. They wanted to position themselves to pick up some of the YouTube views.
In Phily’s mind, she’s a pro runner (not sub-elite), enlightening people with a more educated approach to training! She seems to repackage the mainstream hobby-jogging narrative, passing it off as her own insights, hoping to impress her couch-to-5K video clickers.
I feel, looking at the comments, that the whole thing has backfired -- hence the title change!
Boots on the ground update from someone that ran Valencia, and went past gas explosion Bester, Cole, R2J et al on the course.
It was good conditions.
Yes, it wasnt absolutely perfect marathon conditions. Today is a lot better, I was cold just getting a coffee as I type this.
But the truth is, a truth that these melts cant seem to understand... you shouldn't expect perfect weather conditions at any race. Valencia is the best marathon because it offers a better chance of good weather, but its not a guarantee. To expect it is a silly combination of naieve and bone-headed.
I was covering myself with 2 bottles of water every drink station, and was cold in doing so. At no point did I feel hot. After some stations I even felt too cold as there was a light cooling breeze and the bottles (for anyone sub-3) were nice and cold.
I also ran a slight negative split. Funnily enough it feels way hotter when you go off far too hard.
Maybe myself and everyone that ran had another 30 seconds if we had the perfect weather day, but we didnt. We were still dealt a very good hand, on an amazing course, with loads of company and the chance to run a very good race with some level-headed execution. Anyone that blew up and blames the weather is an idiot in my opinion.

I stopped reading at ‘negative split.’ A cowardly way to run a marathon

Ah right, is your marathon PB better than RTJ & Cole's then?

And she´s not an elite right now. There are women with a pr under 2.24 that didnt get an elite field startposition at valencia this year.

KB was the better man on the day. This guy is acting like Blummenfelt was wearing vapor or alphaflys and Yee was in plimsoles. KB wore Metaspeed Skys, which really aren't THAT much better than Yee's RC elite v2s.
KB did talk numbers occasionally on his Youtube series back then, think he mentioned 7secs/km advantage for his preferred race shoe (vs whatever he normally did his workouts in, presumably)
KB was also trying lots of supershoes, he tested the Asics vs VF/AF and found the Asics superior, for him over that distance.
Yee was restricted to racing in the best shoe NB could provide. Labratrundown tested the elite v2s on himself and found [n=1] they were closer to an old school shoe with no new foam/carbon, than the AF1 which KB was able to beat:
Anyway, KB won by 11 seconds in the end, they both gave up a few secs in the last 100m celebrating but 99% of the run was full gas from both.
Some might think Yee lacked the confidence to win that day, or claim that KB was the better man on the day.
But I still suspect Yee wins that Tokyo gold by 30+ seconds if he had KB's freedom to find the fastest shoes for him.
Yesterday, PBs from Yee, Connor, Mellor (at 38) all wearing NB elite v5 - that doesn't tell me the shoe is faster than other brands, but still a solid indicator NB have probably improved on previous models.

Beth Potter also ran 14:41 (unratified WR) at podium 5k in the Metaspeed about three months before Tokyo, older pics show she was wearing AF eight months prior on same course and ran 15:24
On the right person, the Metaspeed seemed to have an absolutely insane effect. Maybe KB was one of them?
I enjoyed reading through this discussion, and I agree that the pressure to turn every run into content can make things feel a bit forced, even for people who genuinely love the sport. Still, I think some creators do provide value when they focus on sharing real training experiences, useful lessons they’ve learned, or honest setbacks that other runners can relate to. At its best, running content can motivate people who might not have a local community or coach, and it can make the sport feel more accessible to beginners. The challenge, of course, is keeping things authentic when sponsorships, algorithms, and constant posting expectations get involved.do you think its still possible for a running YouTuber to stay genuine long-term, or does the platform eventually push everyone toward performing rather than just running?
Philly is providing very little value to anyone. She only provides a bad attitude which brings running down. She has the typical lefty, liberal attitude that she has the right idea and anyone else is wrong.
The fact she considers herself a pro is a joke. She was gifted an elite start at London this year, which the organisers most likely did because of her profile. But other than that, she is currently only scraping into sub-elite territory. She hasn't ran for more than time than her injury should take to recover from and now she is doing hit pieces on actual runners who are putting it on the line?
She is perhaps the most insufferable person in the running world and that is saying a lot.
