Love it!
Where is Kawauchi? What is up with the men?
I always remember Linden looking kind of intense...which is something I like.
Any U-S-A U-S-A U-S-A chants on the course?
Des to the front!!!
Wow. The other women are laying goose eggs. Check out these splits.
Mile 13: 5:50 (1:19:01)
20K: 1:15:44
HALF: 1:19:41. Daska now starting to push and has a gap of about 30 meters. Daska’s lead now up to about 60 meters during mile 14. It is now POURING. Winds up to 25mph in Boston.
Mile 14: 5:37 (1:24:38) Daska has a very big lead now at 14 miles (80-90m). Chase pack is eight women -- Huddle, Kiplagat, Flanagan among them.
Mile 15: 6:05 (1:30:42) Linden now making a surge, starting to gain some separation from chase pack. She is making a long push. They’re trying to close the gap gradually but it’s still Daska well out in front.
Kiplagat and Linden and one other breaking away from chasers and going after Daska. Lead was as big as 30 seconds but now it’s down to 18.

Mile 16: 5:45 (1:36:27) Chesir, Linden and Kiplagat, are the three trying to run down Daska. They are separating from the rest of the pack. Now Kiplagat falling off a little. It’s Linden and Chesir who are continuing to push.

Chesir catches Daska at 21 miles, but she doesn’t go right by. They’re actually running on opposite sides of the road. Linden still about 20 meters behind. Daska not running the tangent but now she cuts in. Daska fading. Chesir now into the front, Desi closing the gap though as Daska is off the back in third.
Mile 21: 6:52
Linden into the lead now as they’re running along Comm Ave toward Cleveland Circle.
35K: 2:12:22

DESI LETS GO! I am freaking out and so nervous, dont lose it now!
Desi is a model Blue Collar Runner. This is huge.
She just has to keep that lead, easy to forget the women have so much left.

desi needs to hold back and work with the other chick. the wind is so strong today, better to share pulls up front, yes, just like in cycling.... she could blow. as long as the other two are isolated though it will be a race of attrition for all.
I think Desi knows how to race.
This honestly might be my favorite American marathon majors win ever, I'm a huge Desi fan!!
All Kenyans do look alike.
you don't share pulls up front when there is only one other person there and they can't pull through. you drop them like the dead weight that they are.

Desi isnt just in the lead, she looks strong. Good sized gap and second and third look terrible
Got to love how they cut the men’s coverage...

Hope it's not too soon for Des. She could've drafted for a mile or so to save just a little more, maybe.

This is the greatest marathon I've seen, entertainment wise. Considering the personalities involved.
Linden to win, Yuki for podium along with a Dutchman? That would be truly insane. I'd love it, absolutely love it.
I couldn't agree more. Love Shalane and I know she loves this race but not as much as Desi does and Shalane already got NYC. Huddle has an incredible ceiling, international medals up the wazoo and won't give a second thought to underperforming here. Rupp and Hasay...pfft.
Desi is the runner we all wanted to win here and didn't believe it could ever happen. This is heart-stopping.
Desi is slowing slightly, Shalane was cooked early on, her best was NYC, should have retired, appearance money was to great for her.
Yuki is the hero, he will not slow, he will die first!
American men regularly now run sub 13 5k and sun 27 10k but marathons stuck at 2:07. What gives?
