Getting back to the actual running part of this, following on from a two very good days of running on Day 8 and Day 9, (his most consistent consecutive days for a week), his opening three completed master laps this morning are not going well.
On the last two days, he returned to the track around sunrise after about 5 or 6 hours rest to run his first three master laps (38.5km) in about 4.5 hours. Today it's taken him about 6 hours.
Immediately struggling coming off his longest scheduled break isn't a good sign. This is looking to be a very unpleasant day for Nedd.
Don't write Lazarus off yet. He just did a 8.60km/h average Master lap (sub 7min pace), but when I looked at him right now, he hobbled a lap in 3min, had 2 min of strapping the left leg like a mummy-appears to be the knee- then again 3min.
Let's see what magic they do on this Master lap
Mate, stop with this crap, it’s ridiculous. They don’t record him until he does 2 laps in every lane and comes back, you can literally sit there and watch him do it - I have. When you watch him for 3 mins do a slow lap and say - he must be a fraud, you just sound stupid.
When he’s running well, he’s running 6 min kms. There’s usually then 25 minutes of stuffing around a master lap, getting strapping, going to the toilet or walking at a hobble - which gives you a master lap in ~8 minute kms. If you want to talk this dribble then sit on the live feed when he starts a master lap and count. If you turn around and count 28 laps not 30 then you’ve got a leg to stand on, but at the moment you’re just sounding silly.
The best anyones actually been able to claim on this thread is that on the opposite side of the track to the camera, people can absolutey definitely see on their tiny phones that he’s “cutting by a mile”. He may as well do it on both sides if the cameras picking it up anyway - quite the scheme he’s come up with to deceive everyone
But it’s not discussing NBs running. It’s making false unsubstantiated claims about NBs running in a weak attempt to discredit him. He attempted the record. He fell short. But not short enough to claim that he is a fraud. It was a noble attempt for an ultra runner with little credentials. One that anyone on this forum likely could not do.
You'd be surprised at the number of runners that could have a crack at this . If all the numbers can be properly verified then neds effort is very good but not super human . It's just that it's not a distance that is raced often so it's not as competitive
No. I wouldn’t be surprised. 99.9% of the people on this site, including you, can and will never run half of the record Ned is trying to break.

I guess your right i suppose I'll find out in 6 days I guess. Mind you I don't have any sponsorship and just run as a hobby like all the other ultra runners .
At the end of the day lads call the event what you want, the man is out there putting himself through hell to help bring real change to a world that needs it.
He is just a kid trying to do some good. Doing a lot more than anyone else is doing. If you can't get around it move onto the next topic.
Regarding the charity aspect, most corporates have a yearly budget that allocates a certain amount to charitable donations. On a smaller scale the same applies for many citizens. All ned is doing is channeling some of this expenditure to his mate's charity. Is this really making the world a better place? Whatever is going to his charity of choice is money that won't be going to other worthy causes. It's the truth.
Look at the donations page and check out the donations coming in from individuals. Nobody can guarantee how many of these people were going to donate to other charities, or had ever donated to charities in the past.
I’m struggling to see the issue. Nedd got people (who usually wouldn’t donate to charity) to donate to charity, and somehow this is a bad thing???
You need to really come sit in the front of the class Johnny. It is not about the charity or getting numpties to donate for once in their lives. The charity is the authentication for making a name so that said numpties like you can drink his oat milk like you drink his 'cordial'
The stunt...crazier and rarer the better. Better even if it was last done 30 yrs ago with hand counting.
The goal....go for the moon, tell the idiots you'll break world records
The cause...pick one that people relate to and hasn't had the glamour.
The real cause...speaking engagements, brand ambassadorship, own range of 'health' products...even a TV gig if he can stop swearing.
None of your post negates the fact the charity will still be getting a giant cheque that they wouldn’t otherwise have gotten.
Do you acknowledge that the money raised is helping a good cause? You appear to be struggling to accept this fact.
These stats are calculated from the barefootsport site that's doing the "official" timing.
The daily distances are based on the last master lap completed for each 24 period, hence the km totals are a bit rubbery depending on how many additional km he completed before day's end at 5pm EDST. eg Although running 100 miles (about 12.53 master laps) each of the first two days, the master lap and km totals for each day differ with the completion of his 13th master lap occurring very early on Day 2.
Still, it gives a general picture of his progress and allows some extrapolation as to what's required to achieve various finish times. I've also included Kouros' split times for comparison.
Apologies for the formatting.
Day# / Total hrs / Total M laps / M laps 24hr / Total km / km 24hr / km remaining
1 / 24 / 12 / 12 / 154 / 154 / 1455 YK 231km
2 / 48 / 25 / 13 / 321 / 167 / 1288 YK 408km
3 / 72 / 37 / 12 / 475 / 154 / 1134
4 / 96 / 45 / 8 / 577 / 102 / 1032
5 / 120 / 58 / 13 / 744 / 167 / 865
6 / 144 / 68 / 10 / 873 / 129 / 736 YK 1000km in 5 days 19 hours & 6 Day total 1032km
7 / 168 / 75 / 7 / 963 / 90 / 646
8 / 192 / 85 / 10 / 1091 / 128 / 519 NB 1000km in 7 days 6 hours
9 / 216 / 95 / 10 / 1219 / 128 / 390
10 / 240 / 104 / 8 /1322 / 103 / 287
It's all really basic numbers, but except for the total "number of M laps" column, none is transparently displayed on the barefootsport timing site. Even working out Nedd's km totals for each 24 hour period is dependent on knowing when Sydney shifted from Eastern Standard Time to Daylight Saving Time.

If he was genuinely just trying to help raise money without any kickback for himself you'd be able to donate without having to give valuable personal details to neds uncomfortable challenge which is not a charity and states that the personal information will be used to promote sponsors. Yes the charity will receive a huge check for his efforts but it's likely things like collecting personal data hurt the size of the check

I accept that Ned is trying to get some promo out of this endeavour (obviously). But how is that relevant to the charity receiving the giant cheque? Is a cheque more usable to a charity if an anonymous runner with no social media helped bring it in???

To be clear, do you think what he’s doing is a genuine record attempt?
A Paralympian dropped the tether on the line and was disqualified a few weeks back. Cost a certain medal and it would have had no real impact on race result. Disqualified. A good runner got disqualified from Hard Rock 100 a few years ago for taking some water from someone outside of a designated point. Just once, he probably wasn’t thinking clearly.
These events are measured to millimetres and milliseconds and integrity is paramount. Why do you think not one world class runner or athletics org is saying anything or going anywhere near this?
Now look at all the assistance Nedd is getting here to inflate his ability and tell me whether you reckon he’s competing on a level playing field for medals and records? It’s not even a race to start off with.
This is a show about one man, knowingly selling you all a false story. He’ll make far more out of this over time than the donations will ever get to.

NB is going through a real rough patch now. Any forward movement looks slow and painful. He vomits frequently. Stops after nearly every lap. Two shoe changes in the last 15 minutes. Some people in the TikTok chat concerned about his health, others still asking if he's going to break the record.

No i don’t, it’s not a genuine record attempt in the sense that he was a) never actually going to realistically get it, and b) even if he had, it wouldn’t have been recognised by anyone other than perhaps Guinness for a whole bunch of reasons (pacing etc etc). That’s all well and good….
All I’m saying is this crap about him devising master lap system as a way to cheat the distance, and he’s skipping laps and is a fraud stuff is just stupid and bitter and ignorant
Yes, I agree with this post, although the record was in 1988 and stating it was measured in millimetres is a significant stretch of the truth. Yiannis is the GOAT, Nedd is a naturally gifted amateur hobby jogger. But that doesn’t mean that this attempt wasn’t as “accurate” as that in 1988.
