Poor guy. Not wanted at track and probably doesn’t want to go home. She probably made him get his online PhD so she could say her husband is a Dr.
Hopefully everyone learns from this, and they all move forward in life.

Can you imagine how absurd his rationalization of all this will be? LOL

I agree, its incredible how bad the Schwartz camp fumbled all this that the Tinman group comes out looking good....
If Tinman the group can do one thing good, its they understand how the internet and social media works.
LOL. The dopes helped build a brand on the shoulders and using the name of a coach they have now let go. 👌
Doesn't matter and no one will care. They can rename it Purple Panda's and their merch will still sellout in two days. That had little to do with Tom. Highschool fanboys and runner bros worldwide weren't supporting because of the cool name or because of TS. TS could sell TME gear hisself now, but without the backing of drew, parsons, winter, gus, syd, etc it's not going to sell.
^Actually a quality post
😤👏💯

Can Tammy (and others in the know) tell us what really went down to cause the disbanding of the Tinman Track Club?
Seems crazy to lose not one but BOTH groups in a matter of months.
Ding, ding, ding...we have a winner!

This really is much ado about nothing. Maybe that is the saddest part of it. None of the parties involved are particularly important figures in the sport. And of course the sport itself is not considered to be important.
You haven't read the thread. There's information about the business side of professional running in general. This is a little but rich business case covering entrepreneurship, sponsorship, branding, IP, PR, family and friend involvement, and managing human resources.
There's the attempt to control the narrative by Tinman's wife that forced TME to issue a statement.
Attempts to derail the possiblity of a serious discussion with heated accusations of extremist political views and old man bigotry, which was stopped. The result was that some involved actually felt it was worthwhile to share meaningful information with everyone.
Also, Tinman was a prominant poster on this site and no doubt some of the support here is because of his many contributions at that time.
Drew Hunter was for short while the next Great While Hope of American middle distance racing and it's not worked out so far but there's still time.
OK but why is it anyone else’s business? Why is it important to you? Is there a crime involved? Or is it simply juicy gossip for you? I am curious as to why you would care about it. I am not judging you as I have a ton of curiosity in general but are you hoping to find out like maybe Tommy secretly dresses as a woman or something bizarre here?

Seems like this incident has really damaged their brand. Look at their most recent instagram post, they're just getting absolutely flamed in the comments. Live by social media, die by social media.
We'll see if this push-back lasts.
Meh. They are far from being ratio'd.

Does ratio'd apply to Instagram?
don't think this adds anything in terms of new revelations, but maybe it's a bit more wood for this glorious fire. off tinman's most recent insta post yesterday:
"Feel free to sign up to my newsletter (link in bio) to keep up to date with what I’m doing! I will send an email out each month where I cover topics such as training, recovery methods, strengthening, and race strategies.
My goal is to help everyone in the distance running community to Keep the Ball Rolling and this will be a perfect way to do that!"
and
"The only comments I made when I was initially interviewed by Robert Johnson of let’srun is that we parted ways and I would like my (Tinman) name back. Had the other side left it alone, I’m sure my wife wouldn’t have felt it important to set the record straight."
and for the talk on his dissertation
"The research is over. I completed it and wrote my dissertation on it, and defended it, which is what somebody going for a Ph.D. does at the end of their long program. On March 25th, the research committee declared that I was Dr. Schwartz. I was very happy!!😄 I receive my graduation on 7 May, which is my dad‘s birthday; God rest his soul!!"

Uh, not undeniably true. You can contest the specifics, but by the standard of Letsrun, her post was - how do you say it? - positively reserved in its tone.
There is nothing reserved about going onto an online running messageboard to take on a bunch of anonymous posters by ripping on people that your husband used to provide coaching services for. She was very insulting to the team in her rant, and it was classless.
Wah fricken wah, dude.
Classless??
Try backstabbing doosh-bahgees posing as elite athletes while spraying adolescent tripe to imagined masses while sucking on the singular teet of a has-been prodigy backed by a shoe company left completely embarrassed by their investment.
Drake results should be a wake up call to Adidas
These guys couldn't podium at the NCAAs this year, let alone the OTs.
Tinman was better last year and the year before when Tom actually held sway over the playground
Delusions of grandeur to say the least.
Classless to boot.

Your response didn't refute anything that I pointed out.

You asked why anyone care's and I gave reasons above.
Does there have to be a crime? There are issues involved in this situation for people who care about distance running in the US. I have no interest or opinions about the people, dynamics, and business of professional rock climbing or bass fishing.
It's legitimate for me to want to know more about how online coaching works. I want there to be more of these running groups and TME seemed like something new.
Your denial of the significance of the biggest story in this small part of life puzzles me. What do you see going on here if anything?
Was Tommy a runner himself? It appears he has a background in Wisconsin. Maybe Tommy has little charisma or people skills? Could not Tommy have been a candidate to coach at Wisconsin? Maybe he does not have the chops for that? Or he did not want to? The Badgers appear to be a deteriorating program. Maybe Tommy would not be a good recruiter even if he knows his stuff in terms of training? What will Tommy end up doing?
You want to know how online coaching works? Why does it seem self explanatory to me but not to you? What kinds of questions do you have about it?

This is what I don't understand- what did the "other side" do??? All I've seen is anonymous speculation and then Tammy's unhinged posts. Nothing egregious from TME.
What I see going on here is that this group of runners want to go in their own direction and maybe one should also follow the money. Maybe if the group feels that they can run as well without paying Tommy this now makes sense for them. This was a voluntary relationship as far as I can tell and voluntary relationships do end at some point. Tommy perhaps imparted his knowledge to the group but maybe at times they found the messenger somewhat unpalatable. Maybe some of them saw Tommy as like a driving instructor and now they have their licenses and his services are not really so indispensable that they want to pay hi and then maybe he annoys some of them. It just doesn’t sound like a big deal. Also I think the name Tinman is ridiculous in the sense that why would it be coveted?

Mid-level runner (35 min 10K?), UW Lacrosse I think (not sure if he ran there or went elsewhere for undergraduate). While your typical letsrunner will laugh at that (because they do sub 28:30 in their sleep, in trainers), certainly does not discount him from being a coach. However, seems like a mid-major, NAIA, or DII program would be a better fit. And that's not a knock, because we have had great coaches come from those ranks.

It's coveted because now it's a brand. Now, it's debatable how much that brand is actually worth (I don't think it's worth as much as many on here think it is), but it is a recognizable branding that's worth SOMETHING
