What an ancient bunch of politicians. What is that?

My personal answer is that politics has become so vapid and money centric, and the private sector options so much more interesting and lucrative, that many fewer young people are having careers in politics. So the quality of candidates is very low.

I mean who wants to spend their peak years

begging people for money so they can be back benchers and have Pelosi or mitch make all their decisions for them? And get paid middle management wages, with no job security.

It's a bad setup.

I think the gloom is somewhat appropriate, but I understand that it could turn people off. Trump in the WH is as serious as it gets though, the main hurdle to beginning to tackle all other problems. It's like the twilight zone in the US right now, all the tzees think we are living in perfect times delivered by super man trump, while the rest sees nothing but corruption of the democracy, reckless spending and policies, and further division being pushed the by the potus.

nah - if you read my posts carefully you'd see that I tried to serve as an explainer...I'd start many posts saying 'BB supporters think that....' or 'many dems think that...' to show that these views weren't my own.

I mean I thought BB was reasonable and he did disappoint me, no question.

well in the end we are living in peaceful times, with low crime, high employment, low inflation, etc.

low information voters will see that and say 'well I don't like trump's tweets and porn star sex , but I don't want to be yelled at by eliz warren for 8 years either. I'll just vote for stasis.'

Sadly, after watching some (not all) of that debate, I've lost respect for all of them... what a mess.. Not one of them gave me confidence that they would be able to defeat Trump.. The attacking and fighting was stupid.... and those who were attacked didn't respond well at all.

I went in hoping Pete or Amy would rise above but they both did their to sink further. I used to like Pete but after his attacks on Amy.. sounding every bit like a politician who skews facts... I've lost interest. And Amy had no response... she got flustered and just repeated her talking points. Their exchanges were pointless and unhelpful.

BB had no answers for attacks on him... Warren hammered him on several subjects....he was a deer in the headlights. However, BB still has a shot at the nomination because he can spend and spend and spend.... marketing works if done correctly..

Biden was his usual vanilla... he'll probably come out of the debate in decent shape because everyone else dropped so much.

Warren is too little too late and has no shot.

Bernie was Bernie... he will win the nomination and then lose to Trump because he will relentlessly attack him for being a socialist.

All that said, no matter who the dem candidate is I'll vote for him/her.

that's probably a long lasting tail from that debate....biden now has a chance to win all the red states. Bberg was considered a valid option but now...I dunno. So biden probably was the beneficiary of that debate. even tho he didn't distinguish himself.

Sorry, but that's not even close. Jeb Bush, Rubio, and Ted Cruz spent the entire primary desperately defending themselves to keep ground. They weren't "having a good time."

Other than that, this is a repeat of the 2016 Republican primary, wherein a person with the economic and political chops of a second grader will float to victory while more reasonable candidates (except Ted Cruz in 2016) battle it out.

This is true but politically this is a horrible time in our history, the bipartisanship and blatant assaults on the constitution, checks and balances, and in turn our democracy. The dud in the WH has zero respect for the office he holds and is actively seeking to sabotage our global standing.

There is one thing about Bernie - he gets people fired up. He's selling himself as a change agent and that works. I am all in for whoever takes it.

The top two candidates are 78 and 38.

It's one guy's dying wish and another guy's start on the national stage.

What happened to the 40 years of hopefuls in between?

MSNBC executives want Trump reelection. Their ratings went up after his first election, and that trend will continue with his reelection. If Trump loses, angry mobs who are watching their shows will soon get bored, and switch to other channels.

The digital subscription for NYT and WP also went up after Trump election. So they also want Trump to be reelected.
