Bernie has the advantage of a split moderate vote. But Bernie depends on young voters, who don't tend to vote very much.

Mike hurts Biden a lot, but he also hurts Pete and Bernie. Yeah he's a moderate for sure but remember, Bloomberg is also an outsider even if he's a billionaire and former mayor. He was Independent and no one questions his pragmatism. I also buy in that he is the best rival for trump after Biden. If Mike starts to demolish the competition then it's a sign the voters lost their faith in Biden being able to handle agent orange.
I've said this before...I think Mike's appeal is that he would put in place Democratic policies... but not bring along all the PC/woke/culturewar issues that drive non-coastals and old people away from the Dems.

I think it just comes down to the candidate being sensible and people having faith in their ability to execute. I happen to like Bernie's agenda much more than other candidates but the reality is the GOP is going to have the perfect excuse to protest and try to block everything he tries to do. Too many voters are probably baking this into their decision as they are just tired of partisanship.

So your plan to unite the parties is by dividing them further? Interesting take but OK.
The Tea Party is not a symptom of a failing GOP. It was a symptom of an increasingly divided country on demographic lines which largely includes educational and spatial boundaries. Trump's election (even if it was only a technical win) is a confirmation of that illness.

That's not wrong, but there's long been a process of increasingly dividing the electorate along wedge issues and simplistic ideals that created the environment where someone like Trump can rise to power.
To your point the Democratic debates I've seen have more an atmosphere of reality TV conflict than of any meaningful comparison of policy agendas by my measure. Part of that is number of candidates, but a lot of it is that the electorate, by and large, really is pretty shallow.
I suppose that makes me an elitist.
